I saw this. Literally, I can't believe people actually go through this. That people actually DO this.

There was bullying in my school, but they never got physical. They would say mean comments or wouldn't invite you to things, but I have never seen someone actually physically hit or try to intimidate someone else. I can't imagine the nightmare and fear their victim probably goes through daily.

At that point, I'd homeschool my kid. FXXX that school and those bullies. I don't know what Korea's homeschooling policies are, but I would not let my kid suffer if I could help it.

People have to understand that bullying in Korea is very severe and different from bullying you might have witnessed during your school days. When they show bullying scenes in kdramas i am always in doubt if that really happens in real life because it is so severe. Also, the teachers don't do anything about it. One of the bullying methods i saw in kdramas is older boys will ask their victims to masturbate in front of them while hitting them. I can't imagine the trauma someone that experiences this in real life will go through.

Something really important to note in the video is how before the first slap, the victim had her hand up to protect herself but the assailant obviously told her to put her hand down and the victim obeyed readily. It just goes to show that this happened before, mostly likely often, and that the victim knows from experience that resisting will get her worse repercussions than otherwise. Instinctively protecting your face when knowing that an attack was coming is literally a reflex, an instinct for most people but even that was overridden here, most likely because of habit. This is extremely heartbreaking. I'm infinitely glad that this was caught on camera, it will put an end to this girl habitual suffering.

How come it's girls almost everytime? What's the deal with school girls over there?

I'm also surprised that, with so many cases happening, no parents involved themselves in a dramatic fashion yet.

I can guarantee you, it very much is not.

The Padded Jacket Murder and the Double jump Suicide are both pretty well known examples of Male versions of this.

Never heard of them. I was speaking based on recent cases and allegations made mostly in the context of kpop: Lia, Soojin, Garam, April, AOA Jimin... whether these allegations are true or not. Plus, now the video posted by OP, the Busan bullying case brought up in another thread... That's a lot of girls involved in these stories and it's something that is wild to me based on the time and place I come from.

Why is bullying of such violence so rampant in SK? What causes these people to become so violent? It's not a singular case from what I get.

Then you also missed the several male celebrities, notably actors, who all had issues. And the Stray Kids member.

It is very much not a female only issue. Just cause kpop focuses on a small subset.

I never said it was a female ONLY issue. I'm just surprised that so many girls/female idols are involved in these stories. Yes I heard about Hyunjin, but for one Hyunjin, how many Garam/April?

Kpop might be a small subset but it's through this subset that people like us hear about these stories which otherwise would be of no consequence to us.

that's why I mentioned ACTORS cause while a lot of female idols got hit a lot of male actors also got hit. Keeping your scope purely to one section of the entertainment industry will leave your view skewed.

This is a kpop forum though and I'm not keeping tabs on everyone working in the Korean entertainment industry. I'm not writing a thesis on bullying in Korea, I'm merely commenting on stories brought up on this forum. Actors can go suck an egg, I don't know their names nor faces as my interest for k-dramas is close to zero.

Go on allkpop news site search the word bullying you'll find all the male idols that had these accusations whith some of them turning out to be true

It didn't need to yet you keep coming back at me with your male actors. I already said that I know it's not a female only issue OBVIOUSLY. But for some reason it's not enough for you so you keep coming back at me with your male actors. So either you have a particular story to tell about a particular male actor, something I can comment on, or be done with it. As I said, I'm gonna research EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL working in the k-entertainement industry and do statistics, diagrams and charts just because you said "what about male actors?". Its just shows that what we see in kdramas isn't fiction and a real interpretation of real life events, i don't understand why Korean kids are this violent, what pushes them to be like this ? And the question is why the authorities don't react ?

In my country there is bullying but it usually it stops at verbal stuff it never goes to a traumatic extent mostly kids will talk behind each other backs or call each other names

My response didn't even highlight the male actors. and the first one I mentioned hyunjin as well. You're the one who's hyperfixated on this. I just elaborated that yeah, there's more. It's always more. If you knew that your world view was so narrow, why put the question out there? You asked, I answered. It's that simple.

That first isn't referring to Hyunjin being the first person I mentioned... That first is referring to the first post that includes the actors. As in I also mentioned Hyunjin in the post with the actors.

This is very difficult to watch. I can't believe it happens just like in dramas and anime. I always thought that was very exaggerated but apparently it's not. That poor girl.

Why don't the teachers, schools or any adults deal with this? In my country physical violence like this would lead straight to expulsion with no remorse. And if you're not rich, you'd struggle to find a place at a good school afterwards. This is so crazy to me.

Bullying where I'm from is most common in primary school kids but it's never this severe. The most they do is exclude you, insult you and maybe steal your stuff. In high school everyone minds their business. The only bullies you face at that point will be from a random gang made of young kids with no homes or prospects who want to steal your pocket money. Even those get dealt with when they become too much of a menace.

If this is so common, I see why Koreans are treat bullying cases the way they do. These kids need some serious mental help.

The worse part is considering the long hours these kids are in school and work. Imagine being stuck with your bullies for that long.

i read some where that some korean schools tend to brush bullying reports off and cover them up to save their reputation. And then there is also the korean law that's very lax on minors, they practically get away with a slap on the wrist and go back to "punish" their victims for reporting and exposing them, which is probably a reason many victims dont speak up

i tried to watch but i couldn't. poor girl hope the video makes a difference and gets bullies punished. but really punished, saying "i'm sorry, we won't do that again" isn't enough.

"they can change when they grow up" "they apologised to the victim"

nah some bullies just cannot be forgiven for the rest of their lifes

And kpop fans still wonder why bullying is treated as an actual crime in SK... Because it usually is
