First of all, I want to say Stray Kids members have always been good on the stage and they've always had a good chemistry as a group while performing.
So, I decided watching their 2018 MAMA performance and their 2021 MAMA performance as a follow-up. I noticed even more how much experience and the idols' wildpower to improve their skills and confidence as performers through their career matters.
During their 2018 stage, I must said they worked very well as a group, as always. However, I noticed what I noticed before in other stages I saw during their rookie days, most of the members used to struggle to stand out and showcase their individual colors as performers. It's like, the dancing, singing and rapping talent was there, the charisma was there, but I felt they didn't feel prepared enough to leave their confort zone hidden behind their fellow members. Apart from 3RACHA who, since the beginning, were never afraid to showcase for what they've come.
This is not something that worries me, first because they were rookies. Lee Know, for example, had experience on the stage and a dance background, but his idol traning was extremely short and his job was to do exactly the opposite to showcase his own colors, so he had to learn with his own new experiences.
Second, because there is something about Stray Kids members I really, really love from the bottom of my heart: they are always thirsty for improvement and they set as a goal to leave a strong mark and build their own identity as musicians and as performers, even If they have to fight against their own insecurities in the way.
When I started to watch their 2021 MAMA stage, even after already watching it twenty times before, I suddenly felt emotional and so proud.
Because I saw Felix opening the Cheese stage with so much confidence and power, I saw his charisma blowing up and I thought about his QG interview saying how much he thought he wanted to work harder to make Chan doesn't regret to choose him for the team. How he said he wasn't feeling prepared for a survival show or for debuting during those days, but this is not something haunting him anymore because he's experienced.
I saw Seungmin and I.N shining so much while having many key-parts, so I thought about how much the members mentioned one of their biggest concerns is improving their vocals and be vocalists and performers that Stray Kids' can rely on. I thought about all the singing training vlives they did for hours to show us their improviment.
I saw Hyunjin dancing with the fire sword and thought about when Lee Chayeon mentioned she met the Hwang and complimented him for his improviment in comparison to when they trained together, also saying he almost teared up after hearing what she said and recognizing his efforts.
I watched Lee Know with his sick dance break with the guitar and I remembered of Chan saying that he may seen very easy-going and relaxated to people who don't know him, but he's actually very hard on himself when It comes to work for his improviment. He's also worried about his members' improviment and that's why he guides them during dance practices.
And Bang Chan, Changbin and Han that, even through were always doing a great job to showcase their confidence on the stage, proved me they could blow up their charisma, energy and presence more than I could imagine they would If I stanned 3 years ago.
I see Stray Kids on the stage and I see their amazing dynamics that always existed. But I also see 8 individuals who built their own personality as performers through the years as a consequence of their own hark work. They are not afraid anymore, they are not lost anymore. Their confidence on the stage is following their message of confidence in their music.
And this realization makes me so much happy.
