That’s not exactly it.

SM usually has a habit of giving their groups vocally challenging songs that aren’t good for their health, so to avoid regression, tries to avoid making them sing those parts (especially the high notes) live as much as possible. Look at EXO’s Wolf, where every single member except Chem could not sustain those impossibly hard notes. Chen too could only hold them softer.

The stronger singers, Taeyeon especially regressed on the high notes in savage, and so with Aespa it makes sense that they are trying to minimize it for Savage itself.

So Savage is getting an encore tomorrow actually, so they will be singing live but they will not be singing live every single show they go on if that makes sense.

Groups like Shinee and Red Velvet never went though this impossibly wild “high note” phrase besides RBB which had a ton of backing vocals from Irene (who was never the most technical singer anyways), while EXO, SNSD, f(x), TVXQ, CSJH did. Wendy also has a big range which helped with Red Velvet songs. Shinee did actually have problems with straining and solo promotions so they were not spared either.

NCT just went though this problem so they are trying to save Aespa.
