why is the trot singer nominated if this is a kpop award show though? But I agree with you.
I've been in this for more than 10 years and I still wonder why we don't get to see in these shows other types of Korean music. Where's the hip hop singers, the bands, the jazz artists, etc? Korea is not kpop only after all.
In the end though I end up not caring that much for the awards because I'm here just to watch the performances which are usually amongst the best of the year, although of course it always gets a smile on your face if your biases win the awards.

So, what is the point to have this award with no competition anyway? It's free award too. Kpop has those who sell well, chart well or doing well internationally. But what have these band offers?
Using the president title as example is weird, they're important to their country. Yet erasing not important award with maybe only two possible competition is make sense. But still glad you taste your own medicine and understand why people complaining when their faves is rightfully able to be a winner but it was given to others. It's just the same concept.

If you looked at past winners, it is rarely idol groups that won. CN Blue is the only one that won multiple times but many times there are non idol bands.

It's sad because that was an opportunity for a wider range of artists with different concepts, discographies, song structures, to show their talent and what they are capable of bringing to the table. It's even more sad when you realize that it's a cash grab because it makes me realize that these big corporations often care more about sales than true talent, but nowadays that what most Kpop is. Even some of our favorite Kpop groups and idols heavily rely on sales over talent for the better or for the worse.

Who even say anything about idol or non idol band? If XH can win last year when Jannabi dominating the chart and leading with huge gap, they will definitely win this year without any competition. Jannabi didn't have cb this year. Judges even favoured them last year. This year, no bands doing well. If no one doing well, what's the point that awards even exist? At least Xh can taste it before it's gone 🤷🏻♀️ They can try at other awards shows tho.
