Kitsch was a test trial of girl crush, and it wasn't that convincing. They just went with girl crush, for their main song, 12 months too early.

i would agree that Starhip probably was too ambitious for this comeback. Maybe they thought Kitsch smashed so let's try girl crush for next title BUT Baddie isnt as catchy as Kitsch. Kitsch has much better verses depsite having repetitive chorus, but Baddie lacks the catchy verses

They should have released Baddie as prerelease and get OTR as last song - at least it is a safeguard in case Baddie isnt well-liked. OTR is more melodious. If it is given proper attention, it could be charting much better

they fumbled hard, all those mistakes in a single era is crazy. If they wanted the 3 title tracks so bad they needed to put way more effort and budget into it and release each one on monday at 6 pm kst like always and chase the international markets in January with a single or something to taste the waters. But the future it's not looking good, losing their power in korea and failed with their first japan venture, kakao needs to think hard and plan carefully for ive next comeback.

Maybe baddie should have been saved for after the high from Either way and Off the record wears off.

I understand that people expect a lot from Ive but how Either Way being #6 and otr #26 on melon rn a flop when both songs literally had only the mv as a way of promotion? No dance practice, no stages, no perfomance mv, not even announcements, literally nothing else but 1 music video for songs that on its own were already very different from previous releases and therefore risky by default. Kinda crazy to me that Ive's flop era is the one where they got a ballad that had zero promotion peak #6 on melon.

The problem with Ive is that they have always promoted in Korea for two years so the sudden western validation makes no sense like they were already doing great internationally but the weird rollout killed this hype. I hope they will stick to Korea if they keep messing up.

First of all, i'm not calling for their downfall just yet, i'm still giving Baddie and all their songs more time, and like you said, both their pre release singles are shooting up the charts.

Secondly, they're only flops relative to the incredibly high standard that was set by them and New Jeans. SS and ETA, even though they werent recordbreakers, did decently enough to keep them in the running for #1 act in Korea. Ive will need to match them somehow with a #1 song and at least two songs in the top 10 from among the 3 singles for this comeback.

IVE's creative directors weren't up to it, just didn't have the stamina I guess, but Soyeon the A&R Genius will meet the challenge.

I don’t get why OFR isn’t doing better on the charts. I find it to be an amazing song. But then again my opinion is subjective.

I like IVE but I think some of their fans were a bit delulu acting like 3 title tracks will be the easiest way to succes when this actually proves that it’s hard to do and have all of them do well. Even new jeans might do one title track only in the future
