It has been belatedly revealed that ATTRAKT‘s CEO Jeon Hong Joon was one of two label employees who defended an idol member from her group members that bullied her.
On July 6, several news reports revealed Jeon Hong Joon’s legendary past.
According to reports, ATTRAKT’s CEO Jeon Hong Joon is the famous label executive who stood by then-Sharp (also known as S#arp) member Lee Ji Hye in an unforgettable press conference. Sharp was a first-generation K-Pop group that consisted of members Chris, Lee Ji Hye, Seokhyun, and Seo Ji Young.
For context, Seo Ji Young and the other members of the group bullied Lee Ji Hye as her popularity rose. Lee Ji Hye finally exploded one day when Seo Ji Young began mocking her in the elevator. Seo Ji Young had taunted Lee Ji Hye by singing, “Lee Ji Hye is such a jerk.” Unable to hold it in any longer, Lee Ji Hye yelled back, “Then just how talented are you?” and allegedly hit Seo Ji Young twice. The incident took a turn for the worse when Seo Ji Young’s mother then appeared and assaulted Lee Ji Hye.
Seo Ji Young’s family then held a press conference to kick Lee Ji Hye out of the group, where Seo Ji Young alleged that Lee Ji Hye had punched her over seven times and that she had never cursed at Lee Ji Hye.
The press conference was turned upside down, however, when the group’s manager stood up for Lee Ji Hye and dismissed Seo Ji Young’s claims as ridiculous and testified that he heard Seo Ji Young curse at Lee Ji Hye.
Jeon Hong Joon (ATTRAKT’s CEO) then revealed that Seo Ji Young’s mother had cussed out Lee Ji Hye and had struck her. Seo Ji Young, taken aback at her manager’s rebuke, hurriedly tried to leave the press conference before finishing her statement.
Although both Seo Ji Young and Lee Ji Hye buried the hatchet years later, Korean netizens still fondly remember Jeon Hong Joon’s (Fifty Fifty CEO) kind act. You can read more about the incident in the link below.
If this is true, I don't see public sentiment supporting Fifty Fifty in Korea. This was a legendary case.
