T.O.P was let out of exclusive contract with YG. He still had several years left but YG let him out, which they legally didn't have to...just like with Yedam recently.

I will never understand people's reaction to his drug use and suicide attempt. The most heartless thing I've seen in a long time. Just cruel. People telling his mother to stop crying when they were taking pictures of her rushing to the hospital, writing comments saying she's pathetic and they don't want to see her tears and hope he dies. His mental health issues that fueled his drug use in a country where mental health is never treated how it should be. His ex who was a dealer and probably negatively influenced him but kpop stans treated her as a girl boss, edgy queen, an icon, even though she is a transphobe, homophobe, a bully and an overall bad person who keeps getting away with crimes because her family is rich.

Some people thought the whole thing was just YG trying to make excuses to get TOP sympathy for his drug scandal.
It was confusing but he was clearly so done with it all. I remember him saying different things from his lawyers' during the trial.

She'd been dealing drugs before they'd gotten together but he'd likely also been smoking weed before they gotten together as well. The police had been looking into him specifically before he'd ever been introduced to her. The issue with Top was her first drug charge afaik
She's an awful person but Top is every bit responsible for the situation he landed himself in. He was in his 30s dating somebody nearly 10 years younger than him well known as both the company dealer and an escort. Nobody pressured him into anything and the way he threw her under the bus for it was laughable considering both YG's well known drug culture and the fact that he'd only known her for a few days before they started smoking together

Yeah, he isn't innocent either, he made a lot of bad decisions and like you said, he shouldn't have messed around with her but he paid his punishment 10x over. We don't know their dynamic but to say she was thrown under the bus when she was the one who got caught first and snitched is a little...
Both her 2nd and 3rd sentences got her jail time, the only thing is the sentences came down at around the same time because the third offense happened while HSH was still on trial for the 2nd. The 2nd sentence (1½ years) looks like the maximum for that particular drug. If her first sentence was too easy, what does that make TOP's who got half the probation time, no original jail time and a very small fraction of the fine?
Every idol that's been busted for drugs either gets probation or suspended sentences for their first offense. Even Illhoon who admitted to smoking weed over 100 times and Yoochun who got busted for meth.
He got backlash because of course he did. They both got backlash. He's the one that claimed he got pressured into smoking weed with her so yeah, they both threw each other under the bus.
Feeling bad for the hate he got is one thing but like I said, it's ridiculous to blame somebody else for what he did, especially someone who was barely legal and already in awful situations

Meh he is responsible for his actions and she is for hers but she's a horrible person who did objectively worse things to me so I have no sympathy for her, I am not blaming her for his actions and I think both of them negatively impacted each other but at least he never attacked trans people, taunted a person after their suicide attempt and accused someone of SA falsely for shits and giggles.
