IVE is getting the BLACKPINK treatment from kpop fans

I was one of the ppl that talk shit about dddd and still do, most annoying bp tt

I knew ive was getting fans riled up when they had to lie to themselves that their label is kakao and not starship. They are literally the underdog in 4th gen same as blackpink in 3rd gen. The company, the reasons and the stats difference is different but both similar nonetheless. Babymonster/blacklabel gg could change this very quickly in future tho.

Ive does seem hated a lot, especially certain members(Wonyoung and Liz) due to their popularity but I think people found Kitsch a change so that led to the varied reactions. However, with their music and kpop fans online they seem more respected since debut.

From what I remember with Blackpink some complained about the music from the get go(or it felt at least way more controversial, possibly due to the label, other stuff, I haven't seen the same with Ive.

Better than getting the Twice treatment, at least fans still stream IVE and BP.

now that you mention it, Whistle does remind me of Kitsch at times. Same tempo, both minimalist, happy melodies

I also think OP is overcalling it. People just don't like the chorus as much, and usually IVE are known for their choruses

international charting wasn't really the biggest impact back in 3rd gen so it may seem like they were not an underdog to you now.

Blackpink was the only GG hitting PAK with debut song and was the fastest newbie to get a music show win (until someone broke the record).

But i do agree that as you become more popular, u attract more hate. Believe me, next NewJeans comeback, there will be more slanders on how bad their new songs are, how repetitive they are because of the other fanbse insecurity

the interesting thing about blackpink is they released their first physical almost 2 years later. while ive has only completed 1 year with 4 physicals. Japan market was considered vital in 3rd gen. twice was beating bp. why do u think jyp stock rose so much? did u think it's out of the blue? it's mainly due to twice success in japan. 2016 debut blackpink got a pak yes. But twice beat blackpink in their cb pwf with TT. 2017 bp 2nd cb it's only one song(still not a single physical out yet, no japanese advancement) bp was beaten by mamamoo at release week and later beat by red velvet red flavour in longevity of success. Twice albums were selling like hot cakes and were viral in japan. This is blackpink's 1st-2nd year 2017. Still no physical out yet. Blackpink follow twice to japan and debut in july with their first physical album being japanese. Sales good but nowhere near as good as twice. They were looking a clear no.2 going into 2018. Put on a 1 year hiatus out of nowhere from june 2017 to june 2018. No one knew bp was going to do what they did even though ppl were expecting to release another hit song. Through out this period, yes they were getting attention and love for their music. Do you know why? If it doesn't seem obvious to you, then i will tell you. Blackpink was clearly the no.2 in battle against twice. It was looking like a losing battle even in 2019 when burning scandal happened. Being a Blackpink fan was clearly not for the faint-hearted but maybe that's what made them special to me. I just loved the story that was being written by them.

Maybe it's not fair of me to compare ive with blackpink because ive has traces of twice in them and newjeans traces of bp because of the album salesand korean charting and who debuted first. These are my thoughts.

it's a nice story, but i don't think it makes them "underdogs" of kpop. maybe just "not as popular as twice"?
