Who do you think will be IVE's greatest rival for dominance?

2022 has been quite good for IVE.

The question now is, will IVE be able to dominate all other acts?

KPop is all about domination. Wonder Girls dominated in 2007, Big Bang in 2008 and 2015 ,SNSD 2009-2011, Psy 2012, EXO 2013 and 2014, Twice 2016, BTS 2018-2020.

(2017 was the year of decision between EXO and BTS.)

2021 was a strange year - while BTS dominated the world, in K-O-R-E-A Lee Jieun actually dominated, for the first time in her longish career; she fought aespa and other newer acts.

And for the first time in a while KPop lacks a dominant act.

IVE won the only Grand Prize this year, but the question will be will IVE be able to continue its domination

For the first time in history, someone from a smaller company reached the top position, and IVE's better financed rivals will not sit still.

Fortunately, it is not likely to have a boy group which will dominate. It is likely that until the afterglow of BTS disappears around the end of next year, new boy group which will dominate is unlikely to appear.

So next year will still be the year for girl groups.

aespa will return with a vengeance, and Le Sserafim and NewJeans want to take IVE's top position as well.

I think , since they are better financed, it will give a huge run of money on IVE.

Most people expected me to say something about a certain person, but that is another huge topic which I will save for the future

The Jan promotion is a do or die for NJ . It has to overcome IVE with that or it won't have a chance to dominate.

LS' strong showing in the overseas chart will give the Hybe execs some headache since the intention would have been using LS extensively in Japan in 2023. And, as always, I expect Hybe will make the worst possible choice.

I don't have too much hope on YGNGG . First, no one really knows whether they will get to debut. Second, YG acts usually take a while to get established.

In Japan IVE will probably fight LS

Given the corporate nature of KPop, that is unlikely. Smaller acts lack the capital to go too far in the overseas. The only act which did that in the last 15 years is GFriend, and its rise and fall shows the limitation of smaller acts.

Hyorin played a huge role managing Sistar. She had to approve any title song SIstar got, and at that time Brave Brother was at his height.

there were only 2 YG girl groups, and while 2NE1 rose fast, BlackPink was competing with other acts and only became dominant in 2018

Yuri is already a veteran. When KBS announced the line up for its year end show, Choi Yena was put before Oneus and Itzy, meaning Yena was considered to have debuted with IZOne in 2018. The same logic applied to Kim Wooseok, who was put near the top because he was considered to have debuted with Up10tion

Those with current groups were considered to have debuted when their groups debuted, but since Yuri does not have a separate group she is considered to have debuted in 2018. So she is not a rising star but already an established one
