And what's the correlation between songs and talent? Your subjective song quality does not change your general level of talent. It's the fault of those who make the songs as the way they are but has nothing to do with talent. I'm pretty sure we can all admit that the girls are talented but I don't see how songs composed with shouty rap and vocal lines and lyrics and beat drops that make absolutely no sense and don't flow well, show how good or bad group members are. If they've already showcased what they could do, then I don't see any sort of correlation.

Maybe it's just me or my language but the word choice with specimen is we are talking about human beings, that you think like OP that they aren't talented is partly your opinion. And talent does matter in the long run, but the industry is a lottery and visuals do have a big place in it.

opinion? i dont think talent is that subjective thing. And its okay, because majority of the idols have mediocre talent to barely have talent. But at least I appreciate the ones who work hard for improvement. There are only few stand out talents. Idk if talent does matter in the long run, I have never seen most talented ggs being on top since 3rd gen.

I would add company name, music and styling to be more important for an idol group success, talent is just a nice bonus to have, but not really necessary to any outstanding degree.

Yuju was the one that ended up blowing up over the falling fancams that put GFriend on the map. Plus she was known for being an amazing vocalist and a hit OST. Hwasa wasn't a traditional beauty but she appealed to women and Mamamoo as a whole did as well, GFriend was catered more to men.
