Depends on how you look into it.

Blackpink - winning in global number and their kchart is definitely huge too. 450k on the first day and stable around that number without nose diving on chart and that's without promotion. Also, their physical reach 2M preorder.

IVE - Their global number is insanely high and their physical is on another level. They are already over 700k on Hanteo. The reach 370k uls on the first day and is still continue to increase in uls. They almost reach 400k now.

Newjeans is killing with how this is just their debut. 500k uls+ definitely not easy to reach and Hype Boy reach over 400k uls as well and they also reached 500k on physical.

All group did amazing in August in different way and I don't think there is a real winner.

Agreed, and for me this is quite unexpected outcome since I originally thought that there will be 1 or at least 2 groups that are the final fighters.

Turns out each group taking their own lane and they do really well.
I came to witness a war but I got a full gg domination and growth instead. It's quite beautiful.

If so, it is still not over - Twice is yet to release and Billlie - who knows if they become the unpredicted hit.

New Jeans has had a fantastic debut, and it is in a way good, that they took #1 and 2 more hit songs, rather than the existing groups. Either them or SNSD -the veterans, that way the fan fighting is not that bad.

Very few grudge victories by babies or veterans.

Nevertheless, consistency is the key to greatness. NJ needs to have successful comebacks each better than its previous - Aespa has failed on that with Girls, whereas Ive has proved it with 3 releases in the past 8-9 months. So that way, Ive is the most successful of GGs in 2022.

August might have been an important skirmish, but 2022 is the battle, then Ive is leading.

what other freshly debuted group can brag about achieving 500k sales with their debut album AND having three songs from the same album consistently stay in the top 10. people are calling them out for being weaker in the west but they charted two songs on the billboard 200 song chart, have amazing spotify streams and monthly listeners... just how high is ur standard for a rookie group there aint no way u expect them to get bts numbers? even blackpink cant get those

Pretty much exploded out the gate in most of the metrics possible to unprecedented levels.

When it comes to comparisons like this where all groups are at different starting points it's all about the deviation from their mean performance. If you use kpop debuts as their comparative they arguably have the most successful kpop debut ever.

No. I think they did well, but BP and Ive both outperformed globally.

Although, truth be told, the real winner is probably SNSD to be able to come back after so many years, perform well and still be part of the discussion here.

I don’t think there is a proper 100% definitive winner because everyone has done very well given the tough competition.

NJ are riding the charts with domination. For a rookie to have 3 high charting songs is crazy.

BP done well as expected, even better international wise

SNSD a 15 year vet coimg off a 5 year hiatus and still keeping up with the younger groups shows incredible longevity and success.

Imo NJ has done the best achievements especially as they’re a rookie group. SNSD would be runner up for their success given their circumstances.

As everyone else said, I don't think there is any definite winner. BP by far did the best if we consider all fields, then IVE, then New Jeans and then SNSD. So far we don't know where Twice stands but they also did great looking at their pre-order numbers.

HNGGTSNBN only topping Melon, already got toppled from Bugs, Genie, Flo.

I'm curious to see what the Gaon numbers are for the current week (we'll get them next Wednesday), since the chart leaders for this week are split up between Attention, PV and i think AfterLike.

He had great hopes for MHJ's NJ, but Danielle went and paid filial duty.

Even SNSD subaenim had to invoke the Creature in their games, and Seohyun's chumminess.. it is all a lost cause.

Korea War maybe. World War... Blackpink is literally 5-10X the other groups on some numbers, it's not even close.
