Without daesangs your legacy will be forgotten even if you had great digitals/Physicals/etc …true or false?

what's a daesaeng again?

True

There are groups/singers who got daesangs whose legacy is very weak in memory, so daesangs aren't a guarantee of that either.
Imo, chart records, young singers continuing to cover your songs, and managing to still stay in the industry in old age are more important.
In my experience people tend to remember and cover the winners no?

Before BP most would say yes but after BP nope & anyways BP will definitely end up getting daesangs before they disband 🤔

I’m also gonna get xie Lian badge soon and it’ll be great

Even most kpop fans dont know who has won a daesang or some of the grps who had won a daesang so definitely not.
U can probably ask half of this forum who has won a daesang and the people wont even be able to be name half of them, and thats saying something
If korean award shows were more fair and more widely recognised this might have been different

Better make those threads of the month
I have read all three of MXTX’s works

Hmm you do have a point there but I have personally seen so many other awards who have a clear criteria but then few awards are given to undeserving artists over the ones who check all the tickmarks.

-
I'd vote for false.
Daesangs are amazing, great achievements.
Jewels in the crown if you like.
But no, no matter how many daesangs a group gets, if their legacy is just daesangs they will be forgotten.
And they can't sell daesangs, but the albums (both physical and digital) they sell is what feeds both the group and the company.
-
Having daesang or grand prize it great but people will remember songs.. having said that, many hit songs are remembered by the general public but not the singers/idols..

Replay value of music is a greater legacy than both daesangs and sales.

BP already debunked this idea

Not really. But a lot of people belittle the importance of a daesang. You can still be very successful without winning a daesang like Blackpink but that doesn't mean they are irrelevant like most kpop fans paint them to be. Just look at BTS, Twice and other idols reaction receiving daesang and you'll know they hold importance, at least to some idols if not all.

disagree, the artists that win Daesangs usually win because they're super popular not the other way around. Does anyone doubt that people will remember Blackpink 20 years from now? Or Red Velvet? GOT7? Seventeen? NCT? None of them have ever won Daesangs from the big 3 award shows (MAMA/MMA/GDA) but clearly they've already made their mark more than some other groups that won in the past.

I definitely see a possibility that Red Velvet, Got7, Seventeen, and NCT being forgotten or somewhat forgotten 20 years from now.

Out of this I believe only BP will be remembered yes.

Depending on many factors, even those who take Daesang can be forgotten, when the generation changes, everything is usually forgotten. I think maybe if they produced a classic song, the group will be remembered if they have cult songs. Generally, kpop is forgotten because it is more fabricated. So I think those who have an artistic identity will be remembered in kpop.
