Me, I'm a dozen (just to clarify, I obviously don't mean my bias, nor am I shading any idols in particular at all, I mean referring to myself). I can't sing well, can hardly call whatever I do "rapping" and trip and fall over almost every dance move. I also have zero charisma. Why the heck am I even in a group?

I think virtually every idol contributes in some fashion to groups. There's more to contribution than the obvious overt performance talents or creative contributions. And an idol does not necessarily have to even be a standout in a performance talent to add to the group.
Many add in terms of Stan attraction or charm, as well as other outside performance abilities and affinities.
An often overlooked one that isn't readily apparent to a superficial examination is behind the scenes group dynamic. Often members can be essential behind the scenes to maintain camaraderie and group atmosphere and relationships between members.
If members were truly lacking any value, companies would not add them. There would be no point.

Everyone's saying he's Twice's 10th member but he doesn't sing or dance or promote with the group. He doesn't even get any screentime!!
He only writes, produces, choreographs for them. UGH...someone should either give him more justice or just kick him out of the group already!
Okay...ONCE he got a teaser for Feel Special. But that was because they felt sorry for him!

I mean, it's true. It costs a lot to both keep a person as a trainee and debut them. They wouldn't do either unless they contributed something to the group in some way. Businesses want to make a profit, not go broke. Many people point out how they think Felix is not as good as dancing is the rest of the Stray Kids dance line and can't rap or sing as well as the rest of them, but without him, the group would be missing one of their main stan attractors and someone to make the group brighter and livelier with their personality. It's all a balance game when making a group. If someone lacks in some area, they are likely good in another area and a different member is likely to be great at whatever said member is lacking in.
