every member of bts has songwritting/composition credits on multiple tracks in the group's discography and half the group have production credits too... thats completely omitting their solo projects that they work on and release individually
thats funny, what criteria do you use to define if someone is an artist or not? for me performing on stage makes someone an artist in the first place; LOTS of 3rd gen kpop groups compose and write their music, make their own choreographies, many of them try doing something outside of their groups. monsta x, got7, nct, exid, winner, btob, mamamoo...
from the groups you've listed i'm pretty sure all svt and bts members do way more than just sing the songs they're given. also i feel like 3rd gen is very creative, the 2nd gen groups felt 'fabricated', nowadays kpop idols try expressing themselves through their work.

This implies only on kpop Idols who spend their time on modelling rather than making quality music.
SEVENTEEN established a name for themselves, especially for being known and introduced as 'Self-Producing Idols' without the help of a big company. I think that alone tells you that they are very passionate about their crafts as an artist. Idol groups are artists, too, no matter how small or big they have participated in their crafts, and I'm talking about every single idol group out there working themselves to the bone to put out great music and performances.

Young K himself as written over 100 songs, Jae, Wonpil and Sungjin already have songwriting credits of over 50. And I'm talking about song lyrics of the entire song, not just songwriting credits for rapping 1 or 2 lines
Not only that, they all take part is making the instrumental recordings of their songs because unlike everyone else they play their own instruments.
I wasn’t planning on replying in this thread but I found your mindset about an artiste to be quite disturbing and very disrespectful to every musician out there trying to breakthrough.
So according to you, unless someone gains success from their own music, they aren’t artistes??? Cut the BS. Any current indie artiste will spit on you
