I am a woman. The only k-pop GG that has appeal to me is Blackpink. Rest appear too cutesy /sweetie for me. I think k-pop GG has mostly appeal to GP in Korea which are pre- dominantly men. They dont buy albums but do great in streaming both in their K-chart platform & Youtube . Though they also have loyal female fans which are usually the ones that buy albums . In short, you’ll know who has more female fans based on album sales. Most men I know wont buy an album but probably watch youtube content of k-pop girl group ( cutesy or sexy) or listen to their songs in whatever platform . This is also the reason why most BG have higher physical sales. Women in general are loyal while men ( GP) will go the next younger GG when the group gets older. Only if you have accummulated a good number of female fans will a gg have a chance to retain their fame after 5 yrs. For now, it’s just BP or perhaps TWICE but I dont know them enough to like them. It’s too many members for me to remember.
kpop is still dominant by girl whether it is bg or gg the majority of the fan is still girl
bg have more girl fan tho than gg
not many boy like bg but many like gg
kpop is international now..
but in the end they will go back to korea
if u only popular internationally but not in korea then its hard
That videos been doing the rounds on kpop sites and twitter lol
But yeah it’s obvious now that edited or full lip syncing is here to stay. Excuses like they’re tired to it’s too hard to sing and dance aren’t really valid anymore as LS a lot more common than the odd music show perf is LS, it’s now most perfs on shows, awards, gayo and even encores. Even if someone hates LS or auto tune there’s not much point complaining because companies accept it and so do fans. As wise LSM once said, lip syncing is a genre and now it’s come true lol
lip syncing is a genre? wth.. lol
It's different from what I wanted to say.
I would say that outside of k-pop fandom (in general), kpop not a big deal (excluding probably some asian countries).
yeah i think thats normal
kpop is only popular within kpop fan circle
in some asian country, kpop fanbase are bigger so thats why
but outside of kpop fanbase nobody know about it
I don't trust ANY numbers in kpop and don't take them seriously (neither album sales nor streams).
K-pop is very interesting phenomenon for me since based on numbers they are the most popular artists in the world but in my REALITY no one know or heard about even the most popular acts (even my friends and collegues in USA). Like literally NOT A SINGLE person. Artists with less streams/album sales/social media engagement are more popular and even if people don't listen to them, then KNOW about them. Not a case for k-pop.
And this is the best indicator of inflated numbers (= popularity) for me.
its all just a fake popularity
the streaming culture is becoming a kpop culture already anyway, nothing we can do
kpop fan will always manipulate the stream so their fav stay on top
if they can manipulate the stream the popularity is fake too
ofc it help, especially from the big company
so which is more popular now?
flop in korea but popular worldwide? wild..
streaming platform is more for exposure than making profit
kpop make money with other thing like concert, ads, collab, and merch
never gone through it
Kpop is not expanding as was promised after BTS.
Reality is, There aren't actually a lot of kpop fans to begin with. They are just too loud .
Physicals obviously don't measure size of fandom but only fandom dedication.
Streams dont match cuz the music sucks and no one (not even the fans in some cases) are willing to stream it .
Ofc this hurts the credibility of those marketting kpop as the next emerging music industry.
i agree, the reality hurt, but it is what it is
i never stan anybody bcoz
