drama makes hit threads on AKP
I want to know too because I’ve been reading comments about MAMA (and some other award shows) only cater to big fandom/ afraid of certain fandoms for backlash, so they have to give the awards to certain acts. Or these awards shows are easily bought (MAMA, I think).
So please, where are the stats and proofs?

This year is one step ahead. The "Rigged" screaming has started even before the announcement of award shows. 
2009-2010. Certain groups that were dead certs for wins were banned.

Honestly going by data, the 2018 soty was clearly rigged. WIL was above FL but under BB, DX4 and LS yet FL had the LY sales which were 4x times the sales of the WIL mini if I am not wrong. This is the most recent one I can think about
I still to this day have no idea why What is Love? won in 2018. Dance the Night Away should have been nominated, it was far and away a stronger hit for TWICE.
And even then, the other nominees were stronger. Bboom Bboom, D4, LS, Fake Love and Starry Night all had better digitals. Fake Love had the best physicals. No one beat BTS in votes. And the judges vote percentage is 40%.
So how did it win?
And if anyone thinks this is shade, please grow a spine.

On the year-end chart, Fake Love was 19th. WIL? was 25th.
Oh, then it is even more obvious that Wil was the least likely correct choice to win that year

Boy with Luv is a far bigger hit and ended up higher on the year end chart. Plus they really split the daesang in half (digital and physical) for one show. Usually it's one flat grand prize. Out of all 30 ceremonies to date, why did they split it for one show and then make it normal again this year???
2009 - when they gave the awards to 2NE1 with i don't care, and they didn't nominate SNSD gee because SM boycotted MAMA
2017 - still don't know how Twice won against Red flavor and IU "through the night " with Signal one of their song who did the worst at the time
2018 - I'm sorry but still twice, how the fuck What is love did to win against BP D4 and Ikon Love scenario
2009 - SNSD deserved the Artist of the year award and Not 2PM, they released Gee and genie, 2009 was their best year surpassing every other kpop group of the time

Every year a fandom or multiples fandoms scream “rigged”, there isn’t a single exception. The most surprising for me was last year when all the winners (even without attending like BLACKPINK ) base on the data and criteria were really on point and fair but still many were complaining.
Which MAMA awards were LEGIT rigged base on the data and the whole criteria?

I don't have a statistics but from the bottom of my heart I felt that ITZY got robbed for Best Dance performance for Wannabe last year. I just know they deserved to win that award.
I am fine tho since at least Blackpink won it.
New Asian Artist that went to JO1. On Billboard Japan JO1 was ranked #18 for the overall group rankings.
At the same time NiziU was ranked #15, Snow Man was ranked #12, Six Tones were ranked #11 and Yoasobi was ranked #8. All of these artists debuted in 2020 or in Yoasobi's case December 2019. I can see them being ahead of NiziU as technically when the award was given NiziU had not debuted yet but the other groups no way.
On Singles sales, JO1 was ranked #14, 16, while Snow Man was ranked #3,4,5. Sixtones was ranked #3, #5, #6 (#3, #5 were colabs). JO1 had 2 Platinum's but Sixtones, & Snowman had million sellers.
In downloads Albums NiziU was #2 and JO1 wasn't in the top 100 at all.
In download songs Yoasobi was #7, ,#28, 57, #68, #69, NiziU was #17. JO1 wasn't in the top 100
In Streams Yoasobi was #1,23,62,67 and 76. NiziU was ranked #11, JO1 wasn't in the top 100.
By any metric the award should not have been given to JO1 but someone else as there are 4 groups that ranked higher then them.

To qualify for SoTY , you must be first appear on MNet, the Song must be nominated in either the MV, Vocal or Dance Categories, this will get you on the Voting List which is finalised at the time of the Broadcast.
Signal ranked 29th on the Annual Chart, it was nominated for Best Performance and Best MV. Knock Knock was TWICE's highest ranked song at 6th, it was the highest ranked Idol Song but failed to qualify for SoTY.
In that year (2017), TWICE had 4 number 1 Gaon Songs where they promoted for almost 3 months on M!Countdown, this would have been a consideration for the Judges.
Knock Knock was ranked 10th on the Melon Music Annual Charts, again the highest ranked Idol Song
