Will 4th Gen be Hybe vs. YG (feat. SM)?

  • We have Enhypen vs. Treasure for example. But let’s move on to their NGGs.

Everyone is anticipating Hybe ngg and YG ngg. No one knows anything about them, they will be the sister groups of THE kpop acts aka Blackpink and BTS and this alone increases the anticipation level. I have seen countless rumours about them and how everyone tries to get infos about them no matter how.

I know their debuts will be spectacular and that’s for sure.

We know that Itzy are going through some rough times (fighting itzy) and Aespa is still staying quiet so i can’t judge them. G(idle) is struggeling at the moment too (fighting gidle) and izone disbanded.

So will YGngg and Hybe ngg spice up 4th Gen and be the major players of the 4th Gen? Will it be Hybe vs YG (feat. SM)?

  • idk, Enhypen is their global representative bg since the show promoted like that

and new bg is also for global market but it will japan group i guess anyways they better debut K soon they did K dirty in I-Land

Oooooooh I seeeee, so it's a Jpop- kpop kind of like NiziU kind of group and awww I'm sure he'll debut soon :pepelove1:

  • hybe new gg will flop hard because its not one company group bighit doenst have experience in gg and they will handle music soumu has only one group and their promotion are shit and gfriend also strugling with chart the gp doesnt know min hee jin bighit stan will drop them the moment they will realise its soumu group sadly its truth gp only care about big company group yg new ggg will be monster group yg made 2NE1 and bp there no way they will flop

Mmm enhypen isn't one company group either but they're nowhere near flopping. The new gg will be AT LEAST as successful as enhypen even though they're not a "full blood" bighit group meaning the hype won't be that much.

Well, judging by the competition hybe groups currently have:

    BTS vs BP (YG)

    Seventeen vs NCT (SM)

    TXT vs SKZ (JYP)

    Enhypen vs Treasure (YG)

It's really unpredictable what will be the main competition between then. Bighit's upcoming boy group in 2022 will most likely compete with SM's one. The source x bighit group will probably go against the jyp one (or aespa, or yg's) so yeah until we see hybe artists having competition with artists from one specific company then that's when we could say that's it

Also, the momemt hybe's groups grow even more they'll also become each other's competition too. I mean we already have enhypen vs txt, we'll also have source x bighit vs iland gg, with time we'll often see hybe vs hybe too

  • enhypen is boy group gg are different froom boys group enhypen came froom tv show with high exposure hybe gg will mostly have its own sound and they will build stable fandom but they are nowhere living to hype as big gg

  • HYBE is also debuting new boygroup i am so excited cus K is there

The Jpn bg is the one I'm most eagerly awaiting (because of K) but it's also hard to tell how they'll factor into the kpop scene. I kinda think they'll focus on promoting in Japan for the first year or two and then debut in Korea, which might put them up against totally different competition. They'd probably be competing with the Bh 2022 bg, Pledis bg, etc, rather than En-, Treasure, and TXT. And I'm not sure how well they'd even do since I'm guessing they'll be hybrid jpop/kpop. They'll probably do much better internationally than in Korea. That's my uneducated guess.

  • Hybe groups have the hype rn and they still have BTS so there is not realistic competition to them.

YG has Blackpink and Treasure seems like they'll do well but not much else, they heavily depend on BP but there will be hype for their new GG for sure as well.

SM since last year has awakened with NCT and their subunits and Aespa which has potential yet to be seen, even SuperM was selling good. They also about to debut a new bg and a new NCT unit soon.

JYP can only pray Stray Kids blows up because without Japanese concerts they are not going anywhere. NiziU has potential as well but it's yet to see if they can keep It bc Japan is a tricky market. He's good at making profit but he invests so little compared to the other companies that they'll fall back if they don't keep up.

Imo it will be more like Hybe ft YG and SM

  • Hybe definitely has done a really savvy job of building the fan base and starting to define their new groups well. (I am not a fan of either group, so just a casual bystander, but even I can clearly see the differences in music styles of Enhyphen and TXT. Or at least I think I do LOL).

So I think it’s really Hybe vs whoever gets their shit sorted out first, and even then I think Hybe has a very big head start.

If they are going to be a JPOP group then they will be treated as one and will be blacklisted from all KPOP charting comparison. NiziU for example is currently being discussed that way so be prepared as you will NOT be considered in any way or form a KPOP group by the KPOP fandom. Not included in most viewed KPOP MV. Not considered in the most albums sold in comparison to others. Example NiziU out streamed BTS in Japan but were told they could qualify because they were a native Japanese group. So if HYBE is making a Japanese group then you should not consider anything at all to do with KPOP and just enter the Japanese market and think that way. Also be aware that their are barriers on a japanese release. No Korea play, no Korean sales, and very little international sales. Oricon only counts Japanese domestic sales no sales to the US or international at all. Korea even pretty much bans Japanese sales as far as I know.

So who are the dominate member in the Japanese market. That is currently on physical sales the Johnnies and 48/46 groups in general and then the independents.

Groups to think about. King and Prince, Snow Man, Six Tones, AKB48, Nogizaka46, Hintazaka46, Sakurazaka46, LiSA, King Gnu, Yonezu Kenshi, Yoasobi, Aimyon, NiziU, J01, Official髭男(Hige Dan)dism, Mrs Green Apple, EITO, back number, etc...

All of these groups get single platinum album sales easily and the top ones get million seller albums also fairly regularly.

    HOWEVER.

Johhnies and the 48/46 groups are physical beasts and don't have anything digitally.

Digitally the list above is pretty good but minus K&P to Sakurazaka46.

  • Yeah this is about what I figured. Thanks for the details! If Hybe wants the group to be global they'll need to factor out Korea and somehow make the leap to other countries. Maybe the US could be worth the effort for at least a niche fandom. There's still plenty of room for all sorts of music to find a niche market here. Hybe and the Jpn bg have their work cut out for them, that's for sure. I'll cheer them on and support them as best I can! I'm know I'm kinda off-topic from the OP. Thanks for the info though, it was helpful.

There are some benefits though. WAY LESS TROLLS. Only reason why J01 and NiziU get them is because of their association with MNET and JYP as you have MNET and JYP international company trolls that cross over from KPOP. But hate comments from Japanese themselves it is pretty much nothing but positive vibes for the most part.

That will be a relief! Especially since I'm a K fan and his antis can be kinda relentless in the kpop sphere. I doubt they'll follow him to jpop. I've been getting into JO1 a little bit and they seem adorable.

Isnt TXT popular af in Japan and just dominated sales with a mini album and dominate charts there overall? Where is this Im not sure TXT can have success in Japan coming from lol?

  • As long as BTS dominates all of the music markets right now, it's a bit difficult to say which groups can be consistent. According to my projections, HYBE gives different concepts to their groups so they can win different types of bridges and fans. Many mention TXT if they are representatives of HYBE and I think they are not, they represent BIGHIT MUSIC. I can't measure the growth of TXT because they do well in all markets but they don't predominate in any of them and they have no competition in the 4th gen for the debut year at that time debit A6bix.
