  • I don't think they will. Some members might leave for another agency, but group activities will remain under Cube, if only because leaving Cube would raise more issues about name and music rights.

If we take a look at senior groups like Mamamoo or Apink, we could fear that the downside of this scenario would be less frequent group activities. But in the case of (g)i-dle, it's hard to figure out because they're in a quite unique position. It's rare for a girl group to be at their popularity's peak at this stage of their 7-year contract.

Now, some fans speculate/hope that Soyeon will establish her own agency. But I think it's too soon. She's not even 26yo right now. I feel like, if she ever does that, it'll be after she retires (at least partially) from idol duties.

There is no a single reason to leave. Delulu nevies are the only ones who think they will.

  • Cube will do everything to prevent gidle from leaving, ranging from giving them lots of money and very favorable contract to threatening them about seizing their group name, song copyrights and all that stuff etc

But even Source Music from HYBE couldn't "keep" GFriend name according to court ruling.

Pretty sure here would be same case. Also I saw some other videos suggesting that CUBE needs more new groups.

So the Nowadays debuted, and since Lightsum debuted in 2021 I expect another gg to be out either this year or next one.

Overall CUBE lucked out with Soyeon's producing skills and girls different vocal tones.

I expect money war and something what Koreans unnecessary call "scouting". Basically other companies approaching members

  • Cube only support for [G]I-dle is their connections to the industry. [G]I-dle by necessity has become Artistically and producing independent. [G]I-dle is unified and Cube's neglect is a problem. Setup for leaving.

  • interesting feedback from Yuqi that I just found, very apropos:

"We keep joking about the company. The joke was like “Ah (our contract is) only 1 year left”, but then the stock price fell! Company representative told us, "If you don't really mean it, stop talking.” Honestly, CUBE treats us very well and I feel that other companies may not treat us like this."

I think it's quite telling in these days when you see the big mess that is happening within Hybe between its sub-labels.

  • Maybe yes or maybe no. No big reason for them to leave and they got freedom to do their music. Manage music and company is two different thing and not everyone can do it. It better to stay and leave the management thing to cube so that they can focus on their music

  • I actually do not think gidle need cube

But leaving an agency it's not easy, like some have give artists their full name and rights but I doubt cube will do that

So it will be tricky if they decide to go that route

I guess other option it's going the bp route if they want better individual promo ( but that means the group will have less focus)

  • Negotiating branding rights will be important.

Maybe they can negotiate an extension, but the girls will get the naming rights at the end.

  • After the Min Heejin circus, no companies will take Soyeon

Completely unrelated to one another, but I guess you've dropped contrastively linking everything to IU and now specious connections to MHJ are in vogue.

Secondly, who in their right mind links a goddamn Kookielit video, the most clickybait, terrible, incorrect Kpop channel around. I watched the first few minutes of that video and it's completely fabricated like 10 things.

Idle may or may not leave Cube, but the only relevant point in this entire thread was someone bringing up Yuqi's very recent comments that 'we're mostly joking' and that they acknowledge they are treated well in Cube.

Yuqi has also spoken at length about how unhappy she was in her year of promoting in China during Hiatus solo. People speculating she'll just run to China at contract end don't really know the group very well, clearly.

She will obviously probably focus more on there - but she wants to do music, not just do variety. That's just not the market in China. There's about 15 different pieces of evidence over the last several years where she's discussed that, but I hardly expect this forum (who link Kookielit videos of all things) to have even the slightest idea of that.

  • No, they won't leave Cube. They joke about it a lot and the company knows they're joking.

If you watch this interview, they joke about leaving and Yuqi mentioned that the CEO asks them to stop joking about it so much because it causes stock prices to drop. She also mentioned how Cube treats and provides them with lots of things that's unimaginable with other agencies, and that the company treats them well.

So in conclusion, they will most likely renew with renegotiated terms (such as percentages, as Minnie mentioned).

EDIT: Just realized someone posted this already. Anyways I'll keep it up here as the whole video provides more context.

  • They're most likely have tenure in CUBE lmao. Super job security. CUBE saw how successful they are and is now basically allowing them to do alot of things. So I think they'll like that freedom, renegotiating will be $$ and still continue to do music. They're like how BlackPink was under YG, except with freedom.

With CUBE, they know everyone. With new management, they'll have to make new friends and boss. I'd rather stay if Im comfortable~

  • think they joking tho. i hope they stay, where else can they go?

I don't think they are joking they are making fun of cube all the bloody time lol

think about this my friend - do you think Cube needs Gidle more or do you think Gidle needs Cube more?

    1. the members of Gidle are all very successful in their own rights as they have plenty of solo activities...historically this indicates at the very best they might stick with the Gidle group but go their own separate ways (ala BP)

    2. Cube's treatment of Gidle isn't known to be very good...

    3. what's to stop another company from poaching Gidle or even Gidle themselves from setting up their own company????

  • naw just overthinking it

CUBE Entertainment says it was just part of the performance and that all (G)I-DLE members are due to renew contracts together next year.
