Why are some of teenager fans of a specific girl group gatekeeping "male adults" from attending their fan meets or concert?

SOME fans are agkaes

and SOME fans are gatekeepers

we don't judge an entire fandom/hobby/sport by the actions of a few bad apples

If you as an "older" fan wishes to enjoy your favs you should do so the way you want to and not worry about what others think...hell I'm 40 this year and all my favs are GG - I'm like the stereotypical uncle fan but never once have I sexualised my favs

the most you'll hear me say in most threads is interesting and nice lol

For all we know, some of those adult guys that are into kpop GGs are likely gays. So how is them "predators" to the idols?

Because men often r creepy. Teenage girls r afraid of them. They don't find it to be a comfortable environment.

It's simple. Most young girls have had a weird experience with older men by the time they are 15. For some it starts even earlier.

The lewd or leering looks, the catcalling with disgusting comments. It's such a common phenomenon that like it's sad rite of passage into young womanhood.

So, it's no surprise there are plenty of young girls who feel uncomfortable with so many men there, both for themselves and their favorite idols, having gone through such experiences.

Kpop used to have mostly female fans.

It very often happens that when a group (or careerpath) that has mostly women, has men entering, the men soon try to push the women to the side or out.

I have some people blocked at Allkpop, and almost all if not all of them are men.

It's the constant sniping at female fans, passive-aggressive comments, looking down on us etc.

Am enjoying it here a lot more with having them on block.

I thought joining here, I would mostly be blocking fans of 'rival' fandoms of ARMY and perhaps some ARMY themselves for having fanwars I don't want to be involved in, but I started noticing the one thing people I block have in common is not them being from whatever fandom, but that they are men.

This doesn't even factor in the creep-factor that some men have.

If men are nice, I'm fine with them, but a lot of them are not and will hate whatever it is women like.

Simple fact of the matter is besides gnashing their teeth and whinging online, there's nothing they can do about it.

They are concerts. They are public events. Anyone can, and go, to them. If you don't like a particular demographic that you might find at a concert, the very, very best option is... don't go. It's why I stopped going to metal and punk concerts, I actually didn't like some of the types that go to those kinds of concerts in Australia.

If theres any group that IS likely to be banned from concert events, it is under 18's. Making concerts 18+ would actually solve some of the problems.

As a teen, I just don't see any non-sexual reason for men to stan women in short dresses that are 20 years younger than them and act like children. Sorry. I think K-Pop fans over 40, regardless of gender, are weird.

But it also depends on who it is, after all.

For the man issue, well... I see K-Pop as a hobby for young people and I don't want that to change. Watching MVs at 3 am with your friends, blushing and giggling over pinterest pics of your faves, sending each other memes every day just seems like a teenager thing.

Imagine you're a 19 year old K-Pop idol and you know that somewhere in the world a stinky crusty 50 year old dude is getting off to seeing you dance.

i mean, i can completely understand why someone older might be into K-Pop. Some of the amazingly creative concepts are really worth seeing, no matter how old you are.
