Today's Emergency Concert, made with 2 days of preparation and zero rehearsals, was relatively done well given the hastiness of the preparation.
It is said that NCT showed why it is relevant, Mamamoo held its ground, The Boyz did surprisingly well and IVE defeated NewJeans there.
I will only talk about IVE vs NJ.
IVE sang Love Dive and I AM, and NJ sang Hype Boy and ETA.
While Love Dive was not received well, I AM was loud and powerful, and it had the best reception of the 4th generation performances.
In a pressure situation, IVE shined.
NewJeans' perf was too bland. Its lack of a powerful song hurt a lot.
That is a negative of the proliferation of tiktok style music - they are good to put in a playlist, but people don't pay money to listen to such kind of tunes.
Forget Lolapalooza. NJ was not one of the headliners. BTW I have not heard too much about txt being a headliner; apparently they didn't make a good impression, which is another story.
In a hasty battle NewJeans lost to IVE because of NJ's lack of powerful songs, because Min Heejin had made sure everyone had similar ability.
And while IVE put all of its assets on Wonyoung, New Jeans did not have a front runner, so out of them Wonyoung made the best impression.
This emergency concert showed the limitations of tiktok oriented songs - if NJ ever wants to have big concerts Min Heejin should ask someone who could compose powerful songs.
