Question is in the title. After the release & success of Next Level/Savage and Step Back, are we going to see more girl groups release more polarizing music? Or like Kpoppies like to call it, "NCT rejects"? NMIXX's debut seems to be following this model too.
I definitely think if O.O does well we'll be seeing more of it.
Dalla Dalla was considered noisy way before aespa’s debut.
neo city will welcome these songs with open arms
i think there was already some doing noisy/experimental music ie rv, itzy, loona, everglow... i don't think aespa's recent success is gonna influence much since i think there already was a demand/supply for more of this kind of sound from ggs. i also think a lot of companies know they can't hope for as much success with this kind of sound as a company like sm.
Let the noiseification begin.

I'm not a fan of the term "experimental" being thrown around like any song with more than one switch is a social experiment tbh, unique is a better term. K-Pop has always been "noisy", it's just this mix of "noisy" and "messy" that is a turn off for some people... I can't relate though, for me it's case per case thing, and I have to say some of the considered "NCT rejects" are recycled hip/hop beats with a generic EDM drop, people with a hate boner for EDM not done by Teddy and "messy songs" will call everything a NCT reject though, but a lot of these songs are very different.

I mean I specified in my OP that I was mostly referring to songs KPOP stans love to refer to as NCT/SuperM rejects. Are YOU okay?
Dalla Dalla may have been polarizing but it was never considered an NCT reject at any point the way aespa songs & Step Back were.
+ if anything Nmixx are more similar to Bling Bling but that's another convo for another day i fear

And that’s what I replied this song doesn’t sound like aespa or SM type noisy. It sounds closer to Itzy than any of them.

Some songs sound disjointed to me, like the individual parts dont sound good together or the individual parts are good but the transitions between the parts dont go well together but thats like very few songs
I dont feel this way for every edm or y'know experimental song
So i wouldn't really mind it if more ggs do such songs, the producers just need to put some thought into the structure of the song
If people dislike this sound, there are plenty of ggs doing the opposite: fromis9, Rocket punch, wooah, cherry bullet, stayc, weeekly, cignature,weki meki and more. They just don't pay attention, like only two of the girlgroups listed are successful. No wonder companies go for the concept bringing them more money

Yep. Even if noise music flops on Korean charts, there is clearly a market for them outside Korea. I mean everyone considers Teddy's Blackpink the epitome of 3rd gen noise music. And then there's hugely successful Itzy and Aespa, both with songs with crazy drops, EDM flying everywhere, empty choruses, bridges that literally come out of nowhere.

I dont think Next level is considered 'noisy'. Its instrument is clean, and it is very similar to what GGs have been putting out there. Savage is noisy though and you can clearly sense Koreans dont like it as much. They can accept something like BP and NL/DCT
In contrast, I think ITZY's music are noisier. And it also explains why theyre flopping on K charts cause koreans dont like these kind of music

By the time Loco was released, people already lost interest in ITZY. To me, Loco is less stressful and more fun to listen to than Not shy and MITM. I havent like an ITZY song since Wannabe but Loco is good
