It's time for kpop stans to stop being delusional. There is not western appeal for any group here except maybe BTS and Blackpink. Most of kpop spotify stream come from Japan, South East Asia and india.
Even most BTS streams are come from the same region I mention above, but they do chart high enough to gain visibility in the west.
For Blackpink, it's the same, but they don't do as well as BTS in the west.

This chart doesn't prove anything. It is easy to chart higher in the countries where Spotify isn't that big while it isn't in the countries where Spotify is big.
BTS' biggest Spotify contribution comes from the US. Japan & India are very high on YouTube side of things, not Spotify.

Super M's song was pretty cringe. I wish sm would hire random westerners on here as consultants, any of us could have predicted "jopping" wouldn't do well.
On the other hand, what evidence do you have that got7 and stray kids have done better in the west than every sm group? Exo had quite a decent following in the west at their high point, and red velvet has a dedicated fan base.

OP is a troll
but seems that many users are answering this seriously, I'll answer it
It's laughable that akpoppies using Spotify streams as a measurement for Western appeal
You look at those streams and you will see their top country aren't coming from western region just like KangK said
To measure international popularity, I think it's better to use Global Digital Artist ranking because it's combination of Apple Music, Spotify, itunes, youtube, Shazam and Deezer points. How to measure is this, if your faves are able to chart in 5months ++ after their latest releases then they are popular internationally and have genuine longevity.

BTS is the highest selling musical act of 2021 in the US so not sure what you’re talking about streams and stuff….
-
Not denying this. It's just they are more popular and visible in the other countries I have mentioned.
Edit: Also, the west is not strictly U.S only. They include most Europe and some more countries. BTS has visibility in these countries also.

Explain “more popular”? USA is literally the biggest musical market in the world, with sales bigger than other countries combined. How are they more popular and visible in other countries compared to the West when they’re literally #1 in the US (once again, the biggest music market in the world) and have been named Time’s Entertainer of The Year….
I mean just because western countries don’t make news articles about every selfie BTS takes like other countries do does not mean they are not as visible no popular in the US…. Butter literally sold 3x the amount of the #2 song in 2021.
-
Because Black Mamba blocking the charts and Naevis apparently died. We have no heros to fight BM.

OK, sound like we are going though the rabbit hole here. This is not about BTS. If I am to put more argument here then this totally derail the thread. If you like you can dm me.

I think they seem too manufactured for westerners

Cringey English imo
If that were it no songs would be hits.

They're too perfect. not that there's anything wrong with that ( eg Taemin)

The issue with SM is that whoever is in charge of their international promotions for some of their acts should be fired. Because SM is actually capable of making music to break into the western sphere. Like for instance recently, psycho by Red velvet. It’s not surprising this song is also SM’s first and only song to ever chart on US Spotify. Jopping, sticker, NL etc aren’t the kind of singles you try to push into the west. It just won’t work.
