WJSN started with 12 members, IVE with 6 (Wonyoung, Yujin, Liz, Gaeul, Rei, Leeseo), yet their success is 20x greater within a week of debut. SISTAR was also very successful, but they relied heavily on the public liking their songs, and their fandom was miniscule. IVE members (excluding Wonyoung/Yujin) already has a bunch of people wanting to stan them. You may say...WJSN members never went to Produce like 2 IVE members, yet a lot of Produce groups never benefit from it. So, is it that Starship just picked quality members who are all-rounders (talent + visual + it-factor) while the past 2 groups were more "lopsided" or not as balanced?
What does IVE have that WJSN and SISTAR didn't have?

Completely different members, with a completely different debut date, in a completely different musical landscape.
Basically comparing them is a fool's errand. Perfect for you!
-
I said they had success, which everyone knows. But it's also well know their fandom was basically non-existent.

You shouldn't use them for comparations when they are on THE LEGENDS league! Literally. So what about fandom?? They are legends!!

So SISTAR started out as "legends" on the first week or even year of their debut?
And it's funny you mention that, when even at their peak your fellow company stans downplayed SISTAR's success because they were threatened their digitals were doing so much better than 2NE1's. How narratives suddenly change when groups are considered "threats" or not

Did I shit on Sistar? Why are you trying to put the blame on me over ridiculous fanwars?? Are you dumb? Stop trying to make a point out of your ass if you are this incapable of rational thinking.

SISTAR's lack of physical sales were largely due to piracy at the time, the fact that KPOP wasn't as big and the fact that they weren't a big3 group. Let's not act dense here for the sake of trolling. In Korea IVE still have a long way to go to match them.
But IVE managed to do better than WJSN because they had 2 very popular members of IZ*ONE as opposed to Yeonjung who wasn't that popular in IOI. Instead of adding like 12 other girls, Starship added only a few who are very strong visually, which makes them more approachable(?) imo.

It's not about you directly, just a side tangent
Not related to what i was talking so I'll assume you were just not prepared to such response even though this thread was your idea.

I will say only Bora.

They are not comparable at all but I will say what made IVE stand out:
1. Wonyoung and Yujin who were very popular in an already popular group, Izone
2. Predebut hype
3. Few members and each of them is a stan attractor with unique visual and charisma, so that makes super easy to get into them
4. Unique debut song, powerful without sounding tryhard, with pleasing vocals and instrumental
5. Unique concept
6. Starship actually did their job creating hype for the group, releasing teaser pictures and videos that reveal just enough to get your attention and curiosity
7. Everything I've seen from them so far was high quality. SSE really thought about everything this time.

Sistar had success since the start even with Sistar19. Bora and Hyolyn was that unit. The only thing they lacked was album sales but it was a different climate back then. Brave Girls is selling 60k on Hanteo now, when back then that would be freaking rare for a girl group doing a sexy concept or a group outside SNSD and the other big companies lol.

better songs too but that's more subjective I'd say
didn't Sistar have a lot of hits. The only thing was that they didn't have a fandom so they album sales and touring

If WJSN debut MV would look like their last one I'm sure they would be much bigger...
