2021 is showing to be the weakest year musically by far for kpop since i discovered it back in 2013

i think it is better than 2020, but compared to 3 or 4 years ago kpop is terrible.

Most of what I've listened to this year really enjoyed.

I can count only a few releases that I didn't enjoy that much and I respect your opinion.

I don't think so. I think it's been a pretty good year with gems like Next Level, Butter and My Universe. I discovered Aespa thanks to Next Level and there's been some other girl group songs that I haven't minded.

Considering Butter and My Universe "aren't Kpop", I agree, 2021 is year of the meh for me. My personal opinion.

Really? 2020 and 2021 have been amazing. I could list like 60 great songs in the past 21 months.

Personally for me it was really good. Txt, Purple Kiss comebacks was amazing, I discovered Exo, Nct127.

Can't relate. Some of my faves released some of their best work, while others made their return with strong albums or singles. Plus I've had the joy of discovering new artists recommended to me on AKP or checking out well-made albums and songs by artists i had heard of but didn't really listen to. (Again through music chat here)

Maybe you should consider exploring new music? Like start a thread of what you're into and ask for recs?

I agree, 2020 had way more better music. This year is pretty bad.

I did get into some old songs but for kpop new releases, txt and enhypen album had some good songs, I enjoyed celebrity from IU but I couldn’t vibe with the rest of her album.

I only liked a few songs and that's it.

While I really love some of the songs released this year, I'm inclined to agree.

Overall this year was just not it. It felt incredibly lackluster for some reason. Can't wait for 2021 to be over...

I am happy with my faves' albums this year (Renaissances, Hot Sauce, Sticker) but usually aside from my faves I come out every year with a few other albums or at least songs that I enjoy a lot. That has yet to happen this year. Even artists that I casually listen to and usually like their stuff like EXO, RV, Monsta X and Twice were kinda a letdown this year.

I enjoyed EXO, Baekhyun, kyungsoo, Purple kiss and Key's albums

It would be better if Exo released a full album

The rest of kpop? Especially the 'hits' I didnt enjoy any of them. It is underwhelming compared to 2015-2018

I agree. People said that about 2019 and 2020 but at least during these two years I fell in love with so many songs and albums whereas this year I like some songs but I simply like them not love them except maybe for like 5 songs.
