I don't know, Aespa didn't get the biggest debut ever ngl, but Twice and BP also didn't get that much of a big debut.

I don't know much about TWICE's debut but at the time BLACKPINK's debut was definitely huge.

They'll loose the gg game again.

Bp debuted with a PAK. Lol. LOA is one of twice's biggest hits.

When it’s your “next ban” maybe?

SM lost the war red velvet couldn’t become as big as twice in Korea or blackpink world wide
Because it's a war? I think RV has done quite well and is exceeding the company's expectations. They even strengthen their artistic side in the production of their songs, they are more and more refined.
For Aespa, it's too early to say anything about them. We have to wait for the release of the first album. Their first song was good and addicting, but it's just a song. And this song was made to be successful with general public, it's was very commercial song (This is not something i say for trash them, so many groups got commercial songs that's not necessarily a negative thing). But i just want to wait some b tracks song of them cause that's generally in b tracks of album we got a more artistic accentuate side. And this side is the best for judge the capacitys and potential of the groups.

LOA is definetly on the bottom half of their hits, as most of them were much bigger. The only platform where its one of the biggest is Youtube, as it's still one of their best MVs. I understated BPs debut though, Whistle was big, though sometimes i feel like blinks are trying to push a narrative as BP was in contention for SOTY in their 1st year.

Bottom half? Loa is like their 4th or 5th biggest hit. It had huge longevity. Unless u give importance to peak instead of overall performance loa is one of twice's biggest performing song. It's on the same level as dalla dalla and whistle.
I haven't seen any blink over here claim whistle deserved soty in the present for whistle. Don't know how things were some years ago.

I prefer peak, though i think longevity is still important. The peak advantage is tat it shows undeniable relevancy of a song when longevity can be much more misleading, as it is easier for a fandom or a small group of people to chart a song at 70th place for some weeks than putting the song top 10 for fewer weeks. Therefor i consider peak more and imo with that rating, those are bigger (only title tracks) songs :
Cheer Up, TT, WIL, Likey, DTNA, Signal and KK. Arguable songs are M&M and Fancy, and lower are ICSM (early conclusion though), Feel Special and YOY.

they can totally win
and they are already winning
i think the worst thing to do for a GG is to debut after a big GG
F(x) was always seen as a transition GG, meanwhile pre-debut RV, were seen as the futur GG (because there was this theory of they'll debut one GP GG, one experimental GG, so the next GG will be a GP GG) and when everybody had great expectations for them they didn't care much about them
YG lose his touch, all his debut group were successfull in the chart, but the debut of Treasure prove that he lost the touch he had with BG like winner, ikon etc... who had big debut
+ there isn't much hype in the community for baby monster currently + the fact that they are the next GG after BP will be their biggest disadvantage, because blinks will feel threaten by the debut of a New GG under YG who might push back bp cb in the future and people will have so much expectations for them because they follow BP, that once they didn't live up to this expectations people will categorize them as flop. And let's not forget that YG also lose the trust of the public, only BP is currently helping YG

Ah, a new thread resurrection?
Well, Aespa seem to be doing alright so far, so they seem to be heading in the right direction for taking that 4th gen top spot.
But we'll see, let's wait and see how they do with their next comeback and album sales.
Ah, has the starting date for 4th gen already moved to 2017? Those starting dates just keep shifting all the time.

Depends on the songs. The problem with Sm has always been song selections for title tracks. It doesn’t matter for BGs since they’re fandom driven.
You can’t go from red flavor peekaboo bad boy to umpah umpah Zimzalabim and really bad boy and then back to a hit like psycho. The quality difference is too stark.
SM GGs worst enemy is SM themselves. So that’ll decide.
If Sm plays their cards well they’ll be on top tho. There’s no doubt about it.

Idk whats with the shade towards aespa in the replies but I had this gut feeling about them that they'll blow up. I just know it. Next level ain't my style but it's the biggest hit an sm group has had in years. All this and not a year since debut. That's impressive on it's own ngl.
I'll wait till bhngg and ygngg to talk about their overall place but they will leave a mark in the fourth gen. Wait and watch.
