There are many great songs which just have unnecessary raps in them:

Closer - Oh My Girl

Moscow Moscow - Onf

Lean on Me - Golden Child

Ice Cream Cake - Red Velvet

Why do they need raps???

The main thing that irritates me is when they throw in random English slang like finna, shawty etc.

tbh it depends the song for example I Ryujin rap on kidding me and shoot but not on not shy

I agree even I don't mind it, but that's a reason why I love so much Gfriend, they didn't push a rapper into their songs.

Over 90% of kpop songs would sound better without the rap parts but if there are no rap parts then the rappers of the group would have zero lines. I thought it was a well known fact that a lot of idol rappers are given that position because they look good but can't sing? I'm not being shady towards anyone but people like Jackson have admitted to it

Psycho is the one that comes to mind for me. I know the "original visual" line is iconic but otherwise it ruins the flow of the song.

As far as I'm concerned, rapping ruins any good song. I've never been a fan of it be it K pop or mainstream. I figure you sing in songs, not talk.

I do agree that the rap break is completely unnecessary in most songs. But, it's clearly the trend. We don't have groups anymore without the obligatory "rapper". Who is rarely used outside of that role.

If we wanted to have a deeper conversation, we could talk about the cultural appropriation of rap in kpop. My view on it, it's that most time it sounds bad because it's just an emulation. Neither the writer or artist took the time to actually learn where rap comes from or how and why it works. So we end up with jumbled lyrics, using half ass AAVE.

I dislike almost every idol rapper and find myself cringing to a lot of raps, ESPECIALLY because most include weird lyrics and forced "swagger™ ".

I especially do not get the hype around Gowon from LOONA. She's like the other extreme of bad idol rapping. While other idols have forced "swagger ™ " she constantly sounds bored and emotionless when she raps.

Like I'm genuinely curious whether anyone else shares this same opinion because stans will hype up the slightest of efforts to rapping no matter how out of place and forced they sound.

I think you are generalizing here a little bit. I like the raps in a lot of kpop songs and I think they are nice. And I am not one that enjoys rap. I also don't think calling all kpop rappers "mediocre" is very accurate. Especially with all the mumble rappers around here that are considered "good" rappers. There is a reason why I didn't like rap before I got into kpop.

I don't mind raping in kpop and there's a lot of songs that i listen to contains good rap parts sometimes it's the part that i look the most forward too but what hate in kpop is that as soon as someone has a deep voice example like J from Satyc they shove raping down their throat J isn't a necessarily bad raper but i enjoy her signing voice way more

You need to differentiate real rap with kpop rap. That way, you won’t be disappointed

This is why I like how TXT usually just does vocal heavy songs, often with no rap. If there is a rap, it usually fits well and is within the capabilities of whoever is doing the part (usually Yeonjun). I also like that BTS lately has just left the rap out in some songs and the rappers just try their best at singing or they'll use a singing style of rap if it fits better.

I think the problem with a lot of rap in kpop is that rappers have one style and they force it to fit into every song instead of adjusting.

I usually don't mind rapping, it usually lasts for 10 secomds, while singing parts last for almost 3 minutes. So singing is more important for me.

Exo is one of few groups that I think rap parts fit perfectly with their songs, and I was suprised when i learned that Enhypen apparently ditched rap altogether

sometimes...obviously don't compare them to greats like tupac and eminem but enjoy it for being idol rappers...
