G.D comeback
afaik bigbang has never released at the same time as IU and twice for sure have not bested IU, none has.
The one time GD & tayeang released a song at the same day (from the same show), IU song set UL record and PAK hour record that stood for 3-4 years before they changed the charts (ul record broken by herself)
She holds all the chart records bascially when it comes to release dominance.
And none is even close when it comes to total streams and downloads (gaon certified)

But now everyone is waiting for G.D and BB to comeback even antis in SK. They have got big chance. You mean Good Boy? that song is one of their least gp friendly song tho but its still does good.

Oh i im sure their next song will be huge, before the chart changes i could even see it beat IU's ul record.
Question is how good they will do with songs after that, after everything thats happened, feels like whatever it is will make or break their status as digimons who have been the closest to rival IU in the past.
Im talking about their songs from infinity challenge music festival 2015.

I believe in G.D's producing talent more than anything. That song isn't kpop song at all hha. Was it trot or idk?

doesnt matter
twice have beaten nearly every artist in longevity as well as chart peaks during their prime years
also iirc twice were the only kpop act alongside IU to get PAK in 2017 so yeah they can clearly easily go toe to toe
and a lot of IU's songs peak high then drop off soon after before stabilizing at a good rank for some time
during twice's peak years they peaked high and maintained high ranks for quite some time
i count that as a win

Potentially BIGBANG they always have crazy hype but longevity depends on the song. But they're now in their 5th year of hiatus so who knows whether the public will be receptive of their comeback or not after all the scandals. GD alone isn't strong enough.

I remember this.
IIRC HwangTaeJi actually topped the first hour on Melon, closely followed by IU x Park Myung Soo in second place and Zion T x Haha third (all three were on the roof). But then IU x PMS caught up and overtook.
HTJ also had the disadvantage of performing first and being partnered up with Kwanghee who was the newest and least popular cast member, whereas IU had PMS who always found the most chart success from the song festival. That's not to say IU wouldn't have overtaken and smashed records had she partnered with someone else, but she definitely had the upper hand here. So I wouldn't say this is the best comparison.
The only way we would know is a full on head to head (my money would be on IU slightly edging out BB) but sadly I don't think we would see this happen with how far and few between BB releases are.

the closest digital competitors to IU have always been big bang (i consider their digital height 2015 with the MADE singles) because both acts are able to chart titles and b-sides simultaneously and consistently. I am curious about GD's next comeback, if it's a good song (2017's "untitled" was a little underwhelming imo) I think there will be a ton of hype. IU has the benefit of never leaving the public's eye and increasing her presence via acting and CFs which has helped to maintain her star power.

none of this is true lol
IU holds the record for longevity for multiple songs - her songs chart forever, a few like "through the night" have charted for 3+ years. twice songs after "cheer up" and "tt" are much more likely to peak and then fall fast, now they have a hard time peaking. "knock knock" in 2017 was out of the chart by year-end, won't even address "signal". what about any of this is a win....? can you give a single digital record that twice has over iu?
