Why do people use the fandom is toxic as a excuse when they bash a group or their fandom?

Ahh I suppose since fandom is what exposes people to a group a lot of time, it can affect their perception of the group, but really, those people that hate groups because of fandoms are just looking to hate.

Well a fandom is most directly associated with a group because technically, they represent the group - especially to non fans or new fans. If a fandom treats others poorly, then naturally their perception of that group will be skewed as well.

Sometimes the fandom goes overboard with bragging/attacking others so I can see how they can antagonize people to this extent.

If they can only use the fandom to bash the group, then it means the group is way better and bigger than their faves and they just can’t find something to drag them with, so they come for the fandom.

On a real note, it's just an excuse to make themselves look less shitty when they hate on a group.

I have disliked a group bcoz of their fandom, I'm not proud of it though. They called me mentally ill and what not, so yeah, though I really like that group now after getting away from twitter drama.

Probably because there is nothing else to drag the group for.

That said, a toxic fandom can definitely deter someone from checking out a specific group, that's just how humans work.
