Simple question. Which company is in the best state and has the best outlook today?
Simple question. Which company is in the best state and has the best outlook today?
Hard to say probably
Then SM
Then JYP
Last YG
HYBE : 17, TXT, En-, LSFM and ofc BTS all established and they now have TWS as well that’s coming up. And their international experiment group katseye is also decently successful unlike other agencies.
SM : Aespa mainly. They are showing some promise with RIIZE I guess and ofc their legacy acts are still touring. But over all they don’t have as many successful active groups as HYBE.
JYP : SKZ and Twice are bringing in the money and day6 in Korea they are super successful but they don’t have legacy acts still active and their future looks bleak as all their newer debuts have flopped.
Honestly I can be convinced to flip SM and JYP.
Last place is YG. They pretty much don’t have any worthy active group.
It honestly feels like HYBE have no competition.
JYPE because they have Day6
Day6 is the best
I would say it is either SM or Hybe.
Hybe: BTS, 17, Txt, Enhypen - their biggest breadwinners.(Njs too but they aren’t in Hybe anymore, poor lsfm is still paying off SoMu debt).
Boynextdoor looks promising. Katseye looks promising too, but they don’t have sales at all yet.
SM: Aespa, Nct. These 2 are breadwinners of SM currently. They also have ton sh*ts of soloists and legacy groups that are touring. Riize looks promising and they already bring a lot of profit. Nct Wish is also doing good, but they are in nct franchise that I already mentioned. H2H just debuted so we will see what happens with them.
JYP: old groups are kicking hard but new groups are nowhere to be found unfortunately. Stray kids is 8 years old. Twice and Day6 are even older. So the future for JYP doesn’t really look well.
YG is a mess. That’s all I have to say.
I would say Hybe. They're oversaturating the kpop market by producing 1-2 groups every year. However, the results speak for themselves and their groups are usually successful. Plus, they seem to be doing decent expansion with their American operations and venturing in latin america market and possibly China. I think they've positioned themselves well, but I can easily see a scenario where they're in over their heads like how they manged their girl groups.
The other companies seem to be in worst shape than Hybe. Plus, I feel the big 3 have reached their ceiling and Hybe haven't reached that yet.
There is a chance HYBE could get completely gutted by the new administration that just came into power. I read one of the main platforms the winning candidate ran on was taking immediate action against businesses guilty of stock manipulation. And considering the FCC AND police are conducting two separate investigations on not only BSH but at least two other executives, who knows what the ultimate fate of the company could be.
We'll see.
Honest question:
Why so many of you vote for HYBE? They're in the mud right now. They have more problems than songs they released.😂
I don't like either of these agencies (or any agencies), but I think SME is still on top in every possible way. Not much controversy, still making decent music or sometimes better. My biggest problem with them is that they're shit at promoting their Idols. But SME is the most consistent agency for over 3 decades now.
Hybe imo, despite how hated they are. At least while BTS is still there. While they are they have unlimited money basically.
If they leave, then it will be interesting to see what happens.
That said, they have the biggest stable of top groups, and most are pretty early on their careers as well, outside of Seventeen. Be interesting as well if Bang is found guilty.
Toss up between JYP and SM next.
I think JYP has probably the most well regarded rep out of all 4, all their groups are successful, if not necessarily chart topping. The issue with them is that I don't think they are that trendy, and their newer groups are not really doing that well.
What happens if Twice, SKZ and maybe Itzy scale back for any reason?
SM is as hated as Hybe, maybe even more so. Big stable of older artists. Their current rep as a top group maker is pretty reliant on Aespa at the moment and NCT to an extent. Decent future I think with Riize and H2H at least in Korea. Struggles internationally but the opening up of China could be big for them.
YG is in the worst spot IMO. Were so reliant on BP for so long. Their newer groups haven't come close to hitting big though they are doing decent. Do they even release enough music? Maybe the upcoming 4 member gg will be their saviour.
Hybe imo, despite how hated they are. At least while BTS is still there. While they are they have unlimited money basically

Hybe, due to their size, who rake in a ton of money from sales and streaming. Despite their low-tier groups performing poorly compared to others in the company, they pull in figures that smaller companies could only dream of.
Hybe has infinite money
I wouldn't say infinte money, but they certainly do manage to service their debts, so they have enough sloshing around to do what they want.
It's all generally considered part of Hybe - all their sub labels. Big Hit, Pledis, Source, Ador, whatever other ones they have. Zico? not sure what else.
I don't know all the Hybe groups but the ones I am aware of are all top or close to the top of their generations at least.
BTS, Seventeen, TXT, Enhypen, LSF, Illit, TWS, what else do they have? Fromis left but were the most nugu I think. Does NJs still count?
JYPE had everything to be #2 If the success of their senior acts (DAY6, TWICE, Stray Kids) translated to the newer ones to keep the company up there as soon as the older acts leave or enlist. But somehow It isn't happening.
Boynextdoor. Though, I seem to confuse them with Riize, and also thing they're the same group 😅

I forgot Katseye too, though not sure if they are supposed to be counted

Are you new to kpop or something? CEO’s being criminals and committing financial fraud doesn’t have long lasting impact on the ent companies. SM literally still exists duh lol.
If bang becomes too criminal they’ll can always switch the CEO and make him chairman or something like LSM lol.
Anything bang is doing is already done by LSM. Because LSM was is and will always be bang’s greatest inspiration and the OG criminal.
If Bang becomes a criminal, too, they’ll can always switch the CEO and make him chairman or something like LSM lol.
Except Bang isn't a CEO. He resign from that position to become the chairman and return o being a producer...
I forgot Katseye too, though not sure if they are supposed to be counted
And &Team, and Aoen 😉
they all suck
I'm gonna say HYBE, because while SM has multiple successful groups right now, they don't have as many as HYBE does currently and several of their groups are stuck in the SM curse of "not officially disbanding".
YG is in the trenches right now. BP is pretty much only being used to fund money for YG's other group projects. Treasure has been sidelined in their promotions since 2022. Babymonster is promising but YG is already teasing another GG. Somi, Taeyang, and MEOVV are The Black Label so idk if they count, but they release so infrequently that it just adds to my argument of this company just not releasing enough music.
JYPE has TWICE, SKZ, Day6, ITZY, NMIXX, Xdinary Heroes and rookie KickFlip. I think they're stable right now with two huge money makers in TWICE and SKZ. Day6 blowing up in Korea last year is another boon for the company. ITZY is stably popular, NMIXX has been growing in Korea and KickFlip sells well for a rookie. Xdinary Heroes, despite having great music, is just there.
SME has Hearts2Hearts, RIIZE, aespa, NCT, SHINee, SuJu, TVXQ, SNSD(?), EXO(?), and Red Velvet(?). IMO they're in a transitional period. EXO and RV are both in career limbo right now. SHINee are only promoting as a group once every 2 years now. SuJu and TVXQ just kinda do what they want. SNSD is in an odd position but their last comeback did quite well. The NCT brand is stable, with Dream being the most popular and Wish growing a ton in sales. WayV doesn't get promoted well and 127 just lost a main vocal through his own criminal activity. RIIZE and aespa are both doing very well, and H2H seems promising. Overall I am the most tentative about their placement.
HYBE has multiple extremely successful groups in BTS (their solo eras have proved that their group comeback will be monstrous), Seventeen, TXT, ENHYPEN, and LESSERAFIM. Rookies ILLIT, TWS, and especially Katseye are growing. BOYNEXTDOOR is having a fantastic year domestically. &Team has been steadily gaining new fans in Japan since last year, with their last release more than doubling the sales of their last album. Their only dark spots have been losing Fromis9 and possibly dismantling the careers of NewJeans (I still think they can bounce back given the time).
It's all generally considered part of Hybe - all their sub labels. Big Hit, Pledis, Source, Ador, whatever other ones they have. Zico? not sure what else.

I don't think Big Hit is their sub-label, that was the original company. They just rebranded as HYBE and kept Big Hit for BTS. So, in my eyes, Big Hit is the main label and HYBE is the sub-label.

Yeah, I'm new, I only follow Kpop since 2003.🤣
The fact is (and what I was referring to) is that HYBE has zero history or legacy, but the original BIG3 actually has. So, even if Bang PD gonna be sentenced to 10 years and HYBE can survive, doesn't mean they're on the top just because they still have BTS and these days their groups are probably the most popular ones. Not sure about that, btw.
Why? Because other than BTS, do they have anything else? Le Sserafim, TXT are not even close to Blackpink, TWICE, Aespa or Stray Kids.
Not to mention, I don't think HYBE actually debuted a single group under their own company. They basically bought everyone. As far as I know, HYBE only has 1 group, and that's KATSEYE, and they're a global group too and NewJeans, but they're pretty much finished, let's be honest. At least under HYBE.
So, what exactly HYBE can show? If you remove the labels they bought, what are they gonna have? BTS and ADOR, the only sub-label they actually created themselves.
Display MoreStock prices:
Hybe: 281,000 KRW
SM: 128,100 KRW
YG: 86,000 KRW
JYP: 76,800 KRW
Also the stock price is back to the same price as when newjeans was at one of its peaks in mid 2023 and bts comeback still coming
The stock price doesn't mean much in a long-term. The minute BTS disband, HYBE is finished.
