Almost every YG group has at least one member who falls short in terms of talent but is included in the group for some other reason, and for BLACKPINK, that person is Jisoo.
As for Miyeon, I think she is more talented than Jisoo, but she has a rather dull image in terms of personality. So in the end, I don’t think Miyeon could have replaced anyone in the group. Even if she could fill Jisoo’s role visually, she wouldn’t be able to replace her personality wise.

Because it's YGE, and we all know he doesn't know how to make a well-balanced girl group.
I said this before, Jisoo and Miyeon are not only look similar, but sounds similar. With some vocal coaching, Jisoo could actually sing just as good as Miyeon.
If BP is OT5 with proper vocal coaching, their vocal-line: Miyeon, Jisoo and Rose could've been strong, but given the fact that even as OT4 Jisoo hardly get any decent lines, I don't know how their line distribution would look like as OT5. Not to mention the rapper-line, because Jennie got all those ridiculous high notes so many times, even tho she can't do it.
If you look at MAMAMOO for example, on paper, 3 members were the vocal-line and Byul (also Hwasa as lead rapper in the early years) were the rapper with not many lines, even tho she could've been a main vocalist in any other group, even as a rookie. Now, look at BP with 2 rappers and 3 vocalists.
I mean, Babymonster kinda proves my point. 7 talented members, but only 4 or 5 of them can shine.
YG's music is too simple to have a great line distribution.

I don't think she would've replaced any member. I think it was a decision between debuting 4 or 5 members. I get why people think it's Jisoo since Miyeon is a vocal and gorgeous too, but Jisoo is a classic Korean natural beauty. I don't think YG ever seriously considered letting her go. Jisoo was noticeably a worse dancer than the others at debut but despite that YG debuted her. This is proved by all her predebut opportunities - Jisoo had a cameo in The Producers, commercials with Lee Minho and iKon, MV appearances etc.. Rose and Jennie had GD song features and Lisa didn't have big opportunities like the others, but she was a shooin for main dancer anyway - they posted the "Who's That Girl" teaser on their channel. The 4 were clear favorites for YG - Miyeon didn't have any predebut activities.

anyways, I know non-blinks would say jisoo bu who cares they don't stand blackpink blinks would honestly say none of them would have been replaced.
Jisoo literally was promoted as the visual/actress or whatever since producers so she was gonna already be in the group regardless.. And not only that she was also featured in epik high mv's. These girls match visually and vibe wise Miyeon would have been out of place much worse than what people think about jisoo. Sure jisoo is not as charismatic as the other member but she fits in blackpink image wise.
btw in this unreleased choreo video, Jisoo did much better than the video that YG officially released and was dragged for years. Yg did her dirty but hey he picked her for a reason

None bc there is a reason why trainees don't debut, it's bc they aren't the chosen ones meaning the company dropped them. It's the fantasy world bc as I said in the other thread Miyeon would be overshadowed by Jennie, Lisa, Rosé AND Jisoo bc Jisoo is the most charismatic one (off stage), the most funny, her voice is beautiful and while she isn't the best dancer, she always showed improvement in each era, her visual is the best, her aura is MOTHER and let's not delude yourselves!
In the end ot4 BP after getting picked by the company were never in the chance of being dropped. They always talk about how them 4 worked hard to debut and how them 4 became a team while training. It's the magic!

while she is not the best dancer and might not be that good with high notes she has a nice voice when she signs in her comfort zone. In fact she has a nice deep voice you are able to appreciate it more on B-sides. May I remind you social media people focus on the mistakes not the good performances

Watching some of the videos, in my opinion, Miyeon weak dancing skills is what kept her from debuting with BlackPink, Jisoo and Miyeon as main vocals are also the weakest dancers, maybe Jisso did a bit better than Miyeon.

it's when she sings high notes her voice becomes nasal. I think they should give her songs that works for her I think she should focus on the lower pars . her voice is actually deeper. watch the clips I linked in my other post.

In my opinion it was never a decision between Jisoo or Miyeon, it was either OT4 or OT5 and Miyeon was on the line. Shes so more much talented now, but in both videos she was clearly behind OT4
Also, pre debut Jisoo was POPULAR she appeared in dramas, mvs, was the most talked about along with Jennie, she was a sure in. Also, back then having the God level tire visuals was a key in any girl group, and an acting idol too. So it was always Jisoo in.
I always wonder why Jinny was cut, she fit the BP vibe so well, and was clearly on par talent/visual wise!

IF Miyeon had replaced anyone, it would have probably been Rosé? Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo were very well known trainees back then. I think YG really wanted Jisoo as the visual of the group and I think Rosé/Miyeon both were considered for the same vocal position. OT5 would have been cool though but OT4 are the iconic chosen ones .

yeah I fixed that part but I think the ot5 period was really short. It's because we mostly saw unseen pics of the 7 members during 2013-2015
