tbh, I wasn’t really impressed back then I just thought it was ok. But looking back, I think it was because the 2nd and 3rd generations had a much bigger impact on me, which is probably why I didn’t find it that impressive at the time. Now, when ı compare it to the 5th generation, I realize that 4th-gen debuts were actually quite strong.
le sserafim impressed me with their debut mini album and the one that followed
Yes
I was impressed only by NewJeans and ITZY at debut, hence why I stanned them in their first year. I also liked 'Fearless' album and 'Black Mamba'.
Stray Kids didn't impress me until 'God's Menu', because I simply didn't pay much attention to them before. But this song is basically a re-debut, so It counts...
Attention changed the game completely the others are nice too
It's hard to judge a whole gen, there are gems, nice debuts, subpar ones each time. I started kpop around early 2019 so itzy and txt's debuts really launched my interest for the gen then there were other nice debuts I liked: So Bad (still my fave StayC song), bon bon chocolat, Breathe, Tag Me, Ponzona, Ring X Ring, Eleven. Probably others but I just can't remember everything
that's funny because on the contrary I like Crown (I'm very biased I know) and think Flash was very mid, that empty chorus being a big reason for that. The members were obviously very talented and deserved better but the song was eh to me
Yes. I was actually impressed in 2018 ( the best Kpop year for me). I was obsessed by (G)-Idle Latata and Hann. They also released Lion and Uh-Oh after that, two masterpieces. They are my second favorite girl group (just talking about the 4th generation).
In 2018, Izone debuted with their best songs for me, La vie en Rose and same for Fromis_9, they released their amazing trilogy : To heart, DkDk and their best song to date Love Bomb.
Then, less known groups like Cherry Bullet or BVNDIT killed it with their debut songs, Q&A and Hocus Pocus in 2019. These two groups have never disappoint me.
2020 was also the year of debuts like Weeekly or aespa, Weeekly was nice and Black Mamba had me hooked.
Then my favorite girl group debuted in 2021 with Ponzona and to these days, Purple Kiss is the only 4th generation group that I stan. Eleven did not leave the biggest impression on me but I was obsessed once it grew on me.
Fearless was nice in 2022, Newjeans debut era is still legendary.
i think their first comebacks were insane, hybe boy, next level, anti fragile and love dive all bangers.

Right, the comebacks is where it's at.
I thought I loved more debuts than I actually do before looking at the list, and I think that's because I remember these acts' early days as strong because of their first comebacks.
And whatever the boy groups did
