Hui:
“But I faced some frustrating situations that I did not handle very well and the only thing I could do was write songs.
“I thought there was nothing more I could do because I did not have enough power or influence. I thought I needed to make a change, but I did not have many options.
“That is why I applied for Boys Planet. I also wanted to use this to promote my group so that more people will be interested in us.”
“When I prepared for the performance of the song ‘En Garde’, I reunited with the younger me, who had been brimming with ambition and determination. I was a bit cold-hearted [back then] because I was the only adult in Pentagon who had to lead the team.
“I felt that I had to be charismatic, as I did not want my group to get into trouble. I think that was also what my company expected from me.”
Hui says he used to be a sensitive perfectionist. But after appearing on Boys Planet, he has turned himself into a bright and positive person.
“These days, I am really happy and I enjoy everything around me,” he says with a smile. “After spending time with the younger trainees, who are so desperate about debuting, I now know that what I do – performing on stage and being interviewed as a singer – is a huge blessing.”
He hopes he can have a positive influence on more people.
“My fans seem to be happy because I look happy in their eyes,” he said. “I now know that I have the power to make someone else happy. I hope I can also deliver a message of hope to many people.”

For Hui, an experienced vocalist of K-pop boy band Pentagon who has been active since 2016, every moment spent shooting Mnet’s K-pop competition "Boys Planet" was a challenge.
“I was under a lot of pressure when I was looking forward to my first stage in the show because as an experienced artist, I faced higher expectations to do better. So I showed off as much talent as I could on stage. I don’t even remember myself performing because I was so nervous,” said Hui in an interview with The Korea Herald on Wednesday.
A remarkable amount of opposition coming from his agency Cube Entertainment, and some of his bandmates added to the pressure he was under.
“They were really worried about it because I had already debuted with Pentagon and I’ve even taken part in other survival shows as a producer. But I thought I had to do this because I thought I faced the fact that the time has come to show something different, the real me,” said Hui.
His decision to take part in the survival show came as many of the other members of Pentagon were serving their compulsory military duty.
“Because of my Pentagon fans who are looking forward to a full unit comeback of the group, I thought I had to do well and bring a good synergy effect to the group after participating in this show. I want to thank all my fans who supported me throughout this journey,” Hui said.
Hui’s finished in 13th, failing to make the final nine who would debut as Zerobaseone through the program.
But Hui says it was definitely worth the effort.
“I learned to love myself as I found self-confidence taking part in the show. I was able to show diverse facets of myself through the show, which helped me be more approachable to those who like me,” said Hui.
Hui, born in 1993, was the oldest among the participants, which made him a natural leader on the show, as he shared his experience as a K-pop artist to help other trainees.
“Instead of giving much advice, I tried to listen to their concerns. But one thing that I did tell them was to never give up, because there will be a time when people will recognize the efforts you’ve done,” said Hui.
Likewise, there was a lot Hui learned from the less-experienced young trainees.
“I learned a lot of dancing. I kept asking other trainees to help me out with my performance and also for feedback. All of them have their own unique character and talent. That led me to question my own character and talent and to work on them. Without their advice, I would not have come this far,” said Hui.
“Now I have a bigger dream. I want to aim for the highest I can, like performing on stages abroad that I could’ve never dreamed of. I’m happy to have positively influenced those who have watched the show by showing that it’s never too late to challenge yourself," Hui said.
"I am proud of that and I continuously tell myself that I need to do better to continue giving such positive influence to others.”
This is why Pentagon needs to leave and go elsewhere...hopefully Cube won't pull a fucking beast move. But then again HUI wrote 90% and More of everything he can just take all his shit and the members and be free from this hellhole.
However, there's still other groups under Cube, so Cube isn't going anywhere...BTOB just does whatever the fuck they want but they still make them money, G-Idle as well, but I am sure if they leave they may get the beast treatment too.
BEYBLADE am i right? Kind of impossible for them to go bankrupt when they didn't give shit to Pentagon hardly in the first place. IYKYK

Btob renewed and i dont think they gaf honestly. Cube lets THEM do whatever. So far pentagon hasnt disbanded just members leaving, unless Cube decides to pull on them what they did with beast then Pentagon should still be fine. We have to wait to see what happens with the other members. The ones left were the last to do their military service so they may still have a longer contract

I understand but will cube still be profitable say after next year...since I think we're all in agreement that gidle brings in most of the money (unless someone has a different opinion???)

the feeling I get from watching various variety shows and stuff
they constantly make fun of cube and what not
this is one of the best examples...

Except Twice made fun of JYP, Seventeen made fun of Pledis - both groups quite often prior to renewal.
I honestly think no-one really has any idea and any speculation based on their jokes is kind of weird.

look that's my opinion and I could be wrong but Gidle does it way more often than not...
Furthermore Gidle is a GG and history has shown us that GG with all members renewing with the same company is a bloody rarity (only three groups Twice/Dreamcatcher and Mamamoo have all it's members renewing) and therefore even the default position would be Gidle will not renew...
the other thing I guess is to me (again my opinion) Cube needs Gidle more than Gidle needs Cube

Time to change name to IDLE-Entertainment
No Pentagon and no BTOB and Lightsum struggling basically means Cube is just Idle at this point.
Cube is already a tiny ass company, who knows how many of the 79 employees are still even left after all the departures. Might as well downsize like crazy and just keep focusing on Idle. Not sure what i would do with Lightsum though, i dont think they're that bad but the market has spoken and nobody seems to like them (just like poor CLC).
