This was actually written by two native English speakers, so yeah...

So cringey and forced. Braggadocious lyrics like those don't fit Aespa's vibe at all. It's like they're trying to turn them into a certain other group that takes after the more vapid side of hip-hop lyricism, but the fact that they're actually singing these sorts of lyrics makes it even worse.

Those abominable lyrics need to be buried. The song is a bop and a half but lazy and arrogant LSM and his BFF couldnt even be bothered to take 10 minutes to overhaul the lyrics for Aespa's remix version with LITERAL GISELLE RIGHT THERE IN THE GROUP to help rewrite them. I am still flabbergasted that SM really put out that remix in the year 2022 or whatever.

SM bought the song from Raye. The demo didn't have these lyrics. It was definitely an SM addition lol.

Just because someone is fluent in English or their first Language is English doesn't necessarily make them good song lyricist's and/or poets.

This assumption that English speaker automatically can write lyrics is kind of weird. There are bad writers all the time, hell trashy romance books are filled with lines like that, terrible writers pumping out absolute nonsense.

This is what happens when Kpop is getting more on the Americanized route. S.Korean's society is always following the trend nowadays so having english single there and that with bullshit lyrics or even more woke lyrics.

Now that American are suffering about all this woke and feminist crap, SK will follow with Kpop first cause there are moneys to make and this will go up.

I won't be surprised in future, that every group will release an english single with dumb lyrics and the frequency will be up.

Poor Aspea girls to endure that.

I would especially like to understand how kpop fans have come to have more requirements for English lyrics on a Kpop song than for the singer or rapper abilities of their idols.

And yes, this was the whole message. It wasnt only about love or so. It is a calm track by aespa telling haters that they have better things to do than dealing with the hates

Aespa has always been about this concept, thats how they portrayed the hates dislikes they have gotten from SNS via the kwangya concept. People just didnt bother to watch the kwangya films to understand. It was not only about AI but also self-love, self-empowerment, and dealing with hates/social media influences

Maybe it's a matter of preferences, but I didn't find the English lyrics for Red Velvet's Bad Boy that bad at all, and at that time many RV fans and other K-pop fans liked the lyrics, finding the lyrics a relief after so many weird English song snippets by SM groups and other K-pop groups.

As for SM I agree, I think that one of the reasons they're the last one of the big companies to add English subs to their groups' MV's was because weird, cringey lyrics in the first place.
