Why did Blackpink never get an American hit when hip hop/swag is so popular in the US?

BTS got number one on BBHot 100 with Dynamite, Butter, Life Goes On, Savage Love remix, Permission to Dance and My Universe. Top 13 (because ice cream is the highest BP’s charting at 13) with Fake Love, Boy with Luv, Bad Decision, On, Idol, Yet to Come, Blue and Grey (a b-side).

So obviously they didn’t just top BB or chart top13 with just “bubblegum pop”

I know you're being sarcastic, but I think there's a grain of truth.

Blackpink are too "clean" and manufactured to have any level of authenticity when it comes to swag and hip hop. And I think American audiences kind of expect that authenticity when it comes to hip hop (and other genres). Or at the very least, they want a very well crafted illusion of authenticity.

As much as I love them, they are very much "cosplaying" their swag, to various levels. They've had lives of privilege and the "stories" in their music are created for them. Rose never had a "hole in the wall with a mattress".

Yeah, some of these comments are sounding very questionable.

Plus Blackpink is a Kpop group. Megan and Cardi are rappers who put out mostly rap songs, and their image couldn't be any more opposite than Blackpink's. There's just so many fundamental differences at play, it makes no sense to compare them at all.

Most of all, have they even tried going for an American hit song? And if so, did YG Entertainment ever do the proper groundwork to actually get those songs to American radio stations so they can be played frequently?

Because in America if you say Blackpink is hip hop they would laugh in your face . Kpop rap or hip hop is not actual hip hop.
