LINE survey: Japan's most popular girl groups 2021

LINE Japan revealed the results of their yearly girl group survey. Almost 600,000 line users were asked to name their favourite girl group.

In first place for the third year in a row was Nogizaka46 thanks to their large popularity among male fans. According to their fans, the main reason they liked them because they looked good and liked their visuals.

In second place was Perfume with their high popularity regardless of age and gender. Their fans credited their good dance and music as well as particular worldview for why they liked them.

In third place was NiziU with a very high popularity among women. Their fans like their dance and energy, and more than 40% of the respondents said they had followed the group since Nizi Project for their audition.

In fourth place was Momoiro Clover Z. Their popularity was ascribed to their energetic and cheerful personalities.

Anyway, there were K-POP girl groups ranked in this survey.

The number of subscribers to the girl group's official YouTube channel is 72 million, making Blackpink the most subscribed to artist on the platform.

I choose DDU-DU DDU-DU because it has become the first and fastest MV by a K-POP group to reach 1 billion views, and it is currently the most-viewed MV by a K-POP group on YouTube.

Blackpink's "DDU-DU DDU-DU" dethroned BTS's "DNA" was remarkable.

Blackpink has now surpassed the mark of 28 million followers on Spotify, becoming the first female group, fastest K-POP act and just the 9th female artist to do so in the platform's history.

"MONEY" by Blackpink's Lisa is the 1st song by a K-POP Soloist to spend 20 weeks on the Billboard Global 200.

The main dancers of Winner and Blackpink are a close friend that supporting each other.

Winner's Hoony has been discharged from his mandatory military service. Hoony enlisted in April 2020 as a social service worker.

As Winner’s Jinu was also discharged, fans are expecting the band to return with new music.

Former YG creative director SJ "SINXITY" (Seong Jin Shin) made a post on Instagram explaining his reasoning as to why Lisa was one of the best artists of this generation.
