Why is After Like doing bad globally compared to Antifragile/Ditto?

Honestly, Antifragile and Ditto are just better songs. I’m still shocked Antifragile couldn’t get that Melon number 1. That would have been deserved.

i think the main thing for After Like was the sample and pretty much it . tbh i don't like After Like as compared to their other songs & maybe for Antifragile its bcs of the genre it was based on???? it gets it from reggaeton & i think latinos liked it because it contained beats in songs we are accustomed to hearing and for Ditto bcs of NewJeans 's popularity but we just have to wait & see for NWJS

People rarely mention this but New Jeans' music genre and their easy-listening vocals with top-notch music production might have played a part in their success in the west
No matter how you feel about the song, hip hop rnb is a popular music genre. The girls' vocal tones are very nice to listen to. They don't have someone with annoying vocal tone in the group so no one can ruin the song by their voice. Not to mention, New jeans got the best music production in HYBE (imo). I'm in awe of how clean their songs sound, it's a blessing to my ears.

I heard that sample so many times, I am tired of it. It's great but it's overused. Of course "I'm blue" is the biggest ear-worm and honestly, I could scream hearing it. General public is getting tired of all the remixes.

The other two songs are just better 🤷🏽‍♀️

After like was a really big let down for me, I was so excited for that comeback only for me to not enjoy the song at all. Regardless of my opinion on the song itself, after like still did really well and ive is very successful. You never know what’s gonna happen with their next comeback

I LOVE After Like BUT.......

It's so clearly made or broken on the sample.

People that recognise the sample seem to find it overused or cheesy, which is kind of valid. If you know I Will Survive you've heard that sample 10000000000000000000000 times before and IVE didn't really do anything new with it.

People that don't recognise the sample (and I'm surprised how many there are) are just going by the song as a whole and I do get that some may feel its a bit generic kpop outside the sample.

So the sample does a really weird thing, it both carries the song and distracts from the song.

Also, After Like doesn't have that slightly "sinister" bent to it that Love Dive and Eleven had. Hard to explain exactly what it was, but this sound that made the songs not entirely bright and poppy. After Like doesnt have that and that results again in it being a generic?

Folks have zero taste. Ditto is terrible and AF is aight. AL is Ive's best song by a country mile and a SOTY contender (it earned a 10 out of 10 recently, Leeseo's vocals are so damn catchy).
