How would you categorize your bias's title tracks?

I was thinking about this after seeing someone post on one of fdblink 's "Twice, Once a Day" threads something to the effect of "I like this song, but I don't know that I'd rank it above any of their other songs." And I thought that was an interesting way to think about it, because it's easy to say "this song is a 10!" when considered on its own, but against the others, would I rank it there again?

So I thought it'd be fun to consider your fave's titles (or all their songs if they don't have many) in roughly these buckets:

• It's amazing
• I really like it
• I like it
• It's okay
• I didn't like it

It's without regard to how you think it fits relative to any other group or charting success, etc. Just, on its own, did you like it? Is it top tier? Was it just okay? I thought limiting it to five buckets would make it a bit easier because you can stick a few that are really six in one hand, half a dozen in the other into the same bucket.

I don't have a personal tag list or anything, so uh, wanna come play this made-up game with me?

I won't go over every number but the key points are my 5s 7s and 10s

5s for me are songs that are ok. It's good though to put on my library but I probably won't actively look to listen to it. Anything under 5 I don't download.

7 is what I consider at a title track quality.

10s are my perfect songs. The definition of perfect for me is just that there's nothing I would change about the song, it's perfect the way it is, can't be improved upon.

So I can very well like one 10 over another 10 but still able to admit that the song in itself is the best that it can be for the song.

I like the way you think about it too! It's a different take on the system.

I thought about grouping songs together more broadly because I think there can be a difference between a song I just liked and one that I thought was amazing. Even if I might rate both of them "bops" on the bop vs. flop threads or sloppily rate them the same number on your ranking threads. Typing this out reminds me of when I used to read Seoulbeats back in the day, and I asked their writers how they came up with their ranking system because they'd rated two recent songs a 3/5 (or whatever, but the same number) but one review was harsh af and another one was basically glowing. I think they stopped the number rating after that, haha.

I kid, I kid. I like the way you do it too. I think sometimes people can be overly harsh with songs they don't like. As in, just because I don't particularly care for it doesn't mean it's garbage or the worst release of the year or whatever.
