PLOT TWISTS IN KPOP

  • MAMA 2017 Best Male Group

EXOls And ARMYs fighting about this award and Wanna One end up winning.

MAMA 2012 Best New Male Artist

EXOls and BABYs beef and Busker Busker got the award.

2020 Song of the year discussions

BTS out of the discussion just to later on release Dynamite and snatch 4 SOTY trophies, the most of any song release that year.

    Brave Girls close to disbanding

    Rollin massive success.

  • Armies getting so confident that they'll get another Daesang sweep (and they probably did, no idea which ones they won or lost), only to have Stray Kids get almost as many votes as them and scare them. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate BTS at all and would have been happy if they won or lost either way, but I just found it such a plot twist and hilarious to have some immature, young Armies think that BTS will always win every single award ever, only to almost be proven wrong.

  • 2011 - SONES and BLACKJACKS arguing over which was the most successful song (The Boys vs IATB) but then Roly Poly by T-ara ended up being the most successful song on Gaon's Digital Year End Chart

ULTIMARE REVERSE UNO - Hwayoung and her twin sister ended up being the actual bullies in T-ara where they both threatened and bullied former member, Areum.

  • SNSD vs 2NE1

    But 4Minute won their seniors

Same for Sistar when they won 4minute (also Soyou was previously a Cube trainee so she could possibly been in 4Minute)

    *ARMY it’s an acronym

Also no army thought bts would get a daesang sweep especially with bts not releasing physicals this year. Aespa and IU did amazing in 2021 and they did well with getting their daesangs. Don’t know why your trying to set skz up tho. They were no way close to a daesang last year for the main categories btwn the top acts at the main award shows :pepepizza:

Were they Twitter ARMY? Cause I don't think any of the ARMY here said this, lol. It's kinda delulu though, I mean for real, how would they sweep when they didn't even release an album in 2021?

Why did you even bother to reply such a dumb post? "Almost" is a plot twist :cryingr: Akp users somehow find a way to give me laughs.....

Btw that user is talking about that voting daesang at MAMA "Worldwide Icon of the Year". So I guess that user thinks "immature" ARMYs should not expect BTS to win an award based on voting. I wonder who is more immature : the ones who thinks BTS won't win an award based on voting which they have won against big western artists or the ones who don't :whatr:Stray Kids were #2 in that one. That's why their fans think they "scared" ARMYs :angryr: As if had ARMYs really went allout for voting they wouldn't have easily won it.

This shit was too funny but also looked like somewhat childish.....

Were they Twitter ARMY? Cause I don't think any of the ARMY here said this, lol. It's kinda delulu though, I mean for real, how would they sweep when they didn't even release an album in 2021?

But BTS did sweep MAMA daesangs since 'BE' was released in eligibility criteria. So it is not really delulu to think that they can.

  • But BTS did sweep MAMA daesangs since 'BE' was released in eligibility criteria. So it is not really delulu to think that they can.

I think I wasn't clear - I meant to convey that no one was delulu enough to be absolutely expecting it here - especially in the overconfident way that seems to be outlined in that post. Yes they did sweep, but it wasn't 100% expected. We wouldn't have called it rigged if they didn't, etc. That's what I meant. Not that they couldn't do it and not that I was any less happy ¬‿¬

  • *ARMY it’s an acronym

Sorry about that. I knew it was an acronym, but I didn't know if that was the singular or plural version. I forgot that to refer to multiple ARMYs, you spell it like that (please correct me if I'm still wrong). I am sorry if that was disrespectful, it just slipped my brain. I can go back and edit my original post if you would like to.

Huh. I hadn't been keeping up with ARMYs during that time period all that closely, so I was unaware of that development. The reason why I had assumed that was because in previous years (I mean 2018, 2019 and back then in general), when I kept up with ARMYs more, I would seemingly always see ARMYs mentioning how they won most or all of the daesangs they were nominated for and always came back home with plenty of them. Since then, to the best of my knowledge, BTS has only gotten more popular, so I had assumed the same principle would hold true. At no point did I stop to consider any extraneous factors such as the ones mentioned and that was poor judgement on my part, and I apologize for doing that as well.

I'm glad we can agree on that. At least we found some common ground. Aespa and IU did great that year and they more than deserved the awards they did get. You are actually correct with that. I should have been clearer in my original post, but as I am sure you can tell already, I was not thinking clearly when posting it and definitely should have rethought parts of what I said before I said them. It was not my intention at any point to set Stray Kids up, or to tear down BTS in any way and I do not hold any animosity towards the group at all.

I was referring specifically to the Worldwide Fans' Choice Top 10 Voting, which, from what I understand, would be helped to determine one of the daesangs that year, among other factors. That was not the only factor being taken into consideration and I forget how much the voting impacted the final decision, but I know it affected it to some degree. As for the daesang as a whole, you may be correct. Most of the other factors, aside from the voting, would be determined by the judges and I have no idea how good, or lack thereof, they did behind the scenes for that award.

As I was writing the post, one of the only things that coherently crossed my mind was along the lines of: "Wow, a group I like who's been around for less than four years did pretty well against BTS in the voting for the award which is part of a daesang!" As a result, I may have gotten a bit overexcited and because of that, did not think about what I would be posting beforehand as much as I should have been. It was not my intention to anger or upset any ARMYs on here, even if I see that has happened due to my skewed perception of the event. I would like to sincerely apologize for my actions, but please be aware that you do not have to accept my apology in any way if you do not want to, that choice is entirely up to you. Have a great day/night!

Were they Twitter ARMY? Cause I don't think any of the ARMY here said this, lol. It's kinda delulu though, I mean for real, how would they sweep when they didn't even release an album in 2021?

No, not entirely. I have this unexplainable hatred towards Twitter as a whole and never use it to be honest. I use YouTube much more frequently, and on YouTube, I saw some Twitter screenshots of what some ARMYs were saying. People were also commenting their thoughts in the comments, as people who use YouTube do. So, to be accurate, yes, some of it was Twitter ARMYs, but the rest of it were YouTube ARMYs. Since only select screenshots were being shared, I should have known better than to assume the entire fandom shared those thoughts. If anything, I, of all people, should know just how diverse fandom options can be.

I was not yet on AllK-Pop at the time the daesang discussion was active, so I had no idea what people on here thought about the matter and should have consulted some of them before I made my post, or even just posted something else entirely different on here. In hindsight, perhaps that would have been more mature to do. To be completely fair, I haven't been keeping up with BTS as recently as before and completely forgot they had not released an album. I had heard about all of their singles and features they released this year and checked those out (I actually liked some of them a lot, like My Universe and Permission to Dance), but it escaped my mind that they didn't release an album. How on Earth I forgot, or did not know, is beyond me. Even though I do not currently stan them, given how popular they are, I am sure I would have heard something about it from other people who do.

As for my assumption that they would sweep, as I explained to Charmed123 , that had to do with my previous perceptions of how well they did in the past. In years like 2018 and 2019, they did well and got a lot of awards, including daesangs. I knew they were popular then, but I also knew they had grown in popularity since then, so I assumed if they were able to win back then, they would do even better now, with an even bigger fanbase. I, quite ironically, forgot to account for the rise of groups like Aespa and singers like IU who did well on album sales this year. This was because I rushed making my original post far more than I should have and as a result, forgot to account for such factors. Also, as I explained to Charmed, I am deeply sorry if I said anything out of line, it was not my intention to discredit BTS or offend anyone, even if that was the end result. Ultimately though, it is up to you whether you accept my apology or not and I will be fine either way. Have a great day/night!

  • The ARMY mistake is not a big deal no need to correct it

For award season army look at all the criteria and we make our predictions on if bts will win based on the information we have. We don’t just blindly believe bts is gonna win something if we don’t have the data to back it up. That’s why so many army this year knew that the daesangs this year would go to other people as well because we look at the data. I responded to you because I found the comment to be insulting generalising army as immature and young based on a statement that wasn’t even true (the daesang sweep). But anyways thanks for apologising.

I know how exciting it feels wanting your fave group to win a big award especially young in their career. When bts won Artist Of the Year daesang at mama 3.5 years into their career i was so proud they accomplished that since they came from such a small company, so it was a really big moment for bts and army. They amaze me. So I get what it means to be over excited for your faves but in future be careful of what you say about other fandoms or groups if you don’t have all the information. Not only are you insulting others by saying things without proof but you’re also setting up your group in which you uplift by doing this. You have a great day too :borahae:

  • Armies getting so confident that they'll get another Daesang sweep (and they probably did, no idea which ones they won or lost), only to have Stray Kids get almost as many votes as them and scare them. Bad take. The worldwide fans choice might be labeled a daesang, but I think it has low value. It's really just a matter of how much time a fandom can spend sitting on a device and creating alternate email accounts to spam vote. MAMA knows what they were doing, driving increased traffic to their SNS accounts and increasing revenue.

WWFC doesn't measure critical acclaim, physical sales, digital sales, or overall success within the tracking period. It's frankly useless. Now to the group, it's treasured since their fans put in the work. But yet again, it's another example of the emotional weight kpop stans put on their faves.

    "scared" my ass.

    Is he.....you know?

  • Probably because those users had past experience with me, or had at least seen me on here before, and know me well enough to know that I did not mean any harm with my post, even if that is clearly not the outcome. Yes, I did use the word "almost" since at no point did they actually pass BTS, but at certain points they came relatively close (in my opinion, different people have different definitions of the word "close" after all), so I thought that was the appropriate word to use. Is there another word that you think would be more accurate for me to use? If so, I will gladly edit my original post to use it instead.

I'm glad people on here are making you laugh. It's good to be able to let loose in life and not take certain things too seriously. Besides, laughter is the best medicine, so I am glad I am healing people on here. HEY PEOPLE, LOOK AT ME, I'M HEALING THIS PERSON! See, I think I can be pretty funny, but humor is subjective, so maybe you found that joke bland. If so, I apologize for making you read it.

I'm actually glad you knew what I was referencing, especially since I made the mistake of not being as clear as I should have about what I meant. I take responsibility for that, and I will be more careful about what I am referring to in the future. That is true. At the time, I was not on AllK-Pop, which, in general, tends to have slightly more mature ARMYs. I'm sure there are exceptions, but all of the ARMYs I've interacted with on here have been polite and respectful to me and I have no truly awful experiences with any of them, including you. You pointed out where I was wrong, and I respect that. Thank you for doing that.

Most of the ARMYs I had seen during the daesang voting time, were either through Twitter screenshots posted on YouTube (I dislike Twitter and refuse to use it), or on YouTube directly. I hate to generalize, but while I am sure there are countless exceptions and the immature ones are only the loud minority, I had seen plenty of immature ARMYs on those platforms during that time period. I was also not intending to refer to all ARMYs as immature, I only meant the actually immature ones. That being said, there are mature and immature fans in every fandom. Heck, there are countless childish Stays if you want to go there. When I first made that post, I was one of them.

It was not so much that I thought that they would not or could not win that award, I apologize for misleading you there. My main point was that Stray Kids was doing much better than I, or most people, expected, not that BTS were doing bad. I do know that it would not have been even close if ARMYs were trying harder on voting (no offense intended). Yes, some Stays think they scared ARMYs because, to the best of my knowledge, that is the closest they have ever come to beating such a big group, even for a brief second. I do not think all ARMYs, or even the majority, were actually scared, only the ones who counted only this voting or the ones who treat winning as if it is everything, or the ones to whom both of those statements apply.

Well, you hit the nail on the head with that sentence. A lot of people, both in my guild and online, see me as pretty childish. I even think I am childish myself. There is nothing wrong with being... look, a butterfly! Just a second, I will be right back.

Okay, butterfly has been chased and I am back. As I said before, I am glad you found it amusing. I do like making people laugh. Typically, I don't always love it when they do it at me, but I'll take what I can get and considering how wrong what I did was, I can't say that I blame you. In all honesty, if someone did something similar to Stray Kids, I'd probably react the same way as you did. You are right, BTS has, and certainly can, daesang sweep, however, my reasoning for supposing that they could was outdated at best.

Speaking of which, I am happy that they were able to do so. I enjoy the vast majority of songs of theirs that I heard (Dimple wasn't bad, just not my taste in music) and I can't think of a more hardworking and deserving group to be able to get the honor of daesang sweeping. As I mentioned in my original post, it does not bother me in the slightest that they won. What I was trying, and I suppose, failing, to highlight, was simply how Stray Kids did better than expected, even if that was only because ARMY were not quite as dedicated to voting as normal (which, on a side not, I do find odd for them and I wonder why that is).

Since you mentioned how powerful ARMYs can be when they take voting more seriously, to show you I agree, I wanted to remind you of this video:

Vote Fans BTS bbmas | Vote Fans BTS Billboard Music Awards | BTS Vote - YouTube

It always makes me laugh and I find it hilarious for no reason. I agree with you, when ARMYs vote, they mean business and know how to utilize their fandom best in order to win. Anyway, I think that's everything I have to say for now. Once again, I apologize for my inappropriate initial post. There are dozens of more mature ways I could have made my point and while there is an explanation, there is no excuse for how I acted. As I have told the others, whether you forgive me or not is up to you. Have a great day/night!

  • No, not entirely. I have this unexplainable hatred towards Twitter as a whole and never use it to be honest. This is definitely not unexplainable. The place is a cesspool! That's why I wondered if it was from there.

I was not yet on AllK-Pop at the time the daesang discussion was active, so I had no idea what people on here thought about the matter and should have consulted some of them before I made my post, or even just posted something else entirely different on here. I would tell you that most ARMY here try to take a realistic approach, but Charmed123 already explained it. In past years, yes it would have been rigged had they not swept based on the data and judging criteria. This year was not as cut and dry and we acknowledged that on AKP before these awards had taken place.

Also, as I explained to Charmed, I am deeply sorry if I said anything out of line, it was not my intention to discredit BTS or offend anyone, even if that was the end result. Ultimately though, it is up to you whether you accept my apology or not and I will be fine either way. Have a great day/night!

It's easy to generalize and we've all been guilty of it at one time or another. Being from a huge fandom yourself, I know you get it. AKP ARMY in general hate being put in the same category as the toxic ARMY elsewhere. It happens so much, you might say we have PTSD over it and that's part of the response you're seeing. The "not again" is very much a thing!

Either way, thanks for recognizing it. You did say "some" further down in your post, so I can accept that you didn't really intend it to come off the way it did.

I would because I live off validation and for that, I need people to like me, so no more accidentally pissing off the ARMYs on here. Honestly, I wish I had the guts to do that. You know what, you seem pretty cool, you can keep the title. Have a great day/night!

You are sweet and while your overthinking is a problem and i hope you overcome it, it can also be seen as a quality, you care about not hurting others which is cool considering how some are insensitive.

It was unnecessary as people could understand where you were coming from, but some acted like you talked about them personally so here we are.

And i don't understand trying to "protect" a toxic part of the fandom (you were obviously talking about "success stans" or some in this line) so yes... But well, you already explained your point and said that it was your fault so yes again kkkkk

Sounds like a great plan. Thank you! yes, I know I overthink, it's a bad habit of mine. I really do care about not hurting others, heck, I even got scared of blocking people on here until I learned it was anonymous because I didn't want to hurt their feelings even if they hurt mine. That is true, I've already seen quite a few people on here show their colors (godkingteshub with his posts before he got banned, the ARMY in the whole discussion who basically called me delusional and sensitive, the people who, when they show genuine concern for a fandom outside of their own, get dragged for it by the fandom in question and stuff like that). I'm beginning to think that the main forum is toxic too, not only Anons, but a lot of people on the main forum just know how to hide it well. Obviously, that doesn't apply to everyone is the main forum, we're both exceptions for example, just for certain people, but still.

No offence to Stray Kids but you're setting them up.

Anyways, be free and be happy!

Yeah, that's what pretty much everyone in my guild said when I talked to them about it. Most of them said it seemed like a misunderstanding and not to worry about it. Yeah, I tried to make it clear that I only meant the immature ARMYs, but I guess some of them did not pick up on that and instead assumed I was trying to call every ARMY immature, which is not true at all. Agreed! Just admit your fandom, like all fandoms, has a toxic and non-toxic side. Same goes for Stays. What I said applied to the toxic side, not all ARMYs.

I almost think it's funny how all the non-ARMYs I've talked to about this whole thing understood what I meant better than the actual ARMYs. Makes you wonder. True. They are right that I should have explained what I meant better, but I think some of the stuff they called me over it was completely undeserved.

  • all I know is some ARMYS like me who have matured tend t to participate less often in these kinds of activity 😉

No offence to Stray Kids but you're setting them up.

First of all, thank you for being mature enough to not go on a spree about dragging me or something like that. That's more than some users on here did. True, perhaps I did set them up in hindsight, but I was mostly referring to this, I should have been clearer to begin with:

    Screenshot 2022-02-08 195443.jpg

That being said, I should have made a few caveats:

    1) I know that ARMYs were not voting as heavily as normal, or it absolutely would not have been anywhere near as close as it was (for the voting part I mean, we don't know what happens behind the scenes).

    2) To the best of my knowledge, this is a one-off thing, and I don't know if, or when, it will happen again.

    3) This was not the only thing that determined the daesang, only a small part of it.

At the time, this was impressive to me, and it still is, even when considering the above-mentioned caveats. When I made my original post, it was not my intention to either set Stray Kids up or bring BTS down in any way. I also didn't mean to start a whole fan war (but it's a bit too late for that now). I just wanted to point out how it was unexpected of them to do as well as they did and I was happy for them, since I considered that a K-Pop plot twist and it was fairly recent. Have a great day/night!

And people on the main are toxic bc you need to be an user to comment on anons so.... Uhum...

Anyways, be free and be happy!

I'll allow it, no one's perfect. I hadn't considered that at the time. That would have saved me quite a few tears had I known that earlier on. Oh well, I'll keep it in mind for the future. Why did that make my mind blow as much as it did when it should have been obvious in hindsight? That would explain quite a few toxic users on here then wouldn't it? Thank you, I'll try my best to be. Same goes for you too.
