So, they were basically just like a kpop group but maybe formed by a US label?
Would you stan a western pop group that gave the same kind of sound, choreos, and content as a kpop group?

No.
I fell in love with kpop originally through my falling in love with Korean dramas.
I found something in them that just grabbed me. Something about their stories and struggles and quirks and idiosyncrasies that I found engaging, charming, relatable, and fascinating. I became accustomed to the "Korean world" as presented through k dramas.
And through that original love affair with their dramas, I came to have an affection for the country itself. Even if I've never been there. And have a limited and perhaps distorted second hand view.
It has become a sort of alternative "home base" of sorts for me emotionally.
And so then this led into a affection for their Korean pop entertainment industry.
There's just something about it that for me is very much connected to Korea as a nation. That I don't think would translate for me if it was taken elsewhere.

yeah.
i was never into boybands in general (i may have even been anti-boyband since i was a kid). i really only got into kpop because of the songs that caught my attention, so if the sound is the same, then definitely. i also love good and intense choreo, plus the lack of toxic masculinity is refreshing. i could take or leave the content.
at the end of the day, race/nationality is not a factor at all.

actually idk, if an american replica of itzy were to exist it would be interesting, yuna would be yolanda, ryujin is riley, yeji is yass queen, lia is juliet, and of course chaeryeong is charlotte

If western groups have the content kpop groups did they’d be mocked and ridiculed tbh. I feel such behavior is hypocritically excused because people can give “different culture different behavior” excuse and if it was an American star that was held to the standard of kpop groups they’d only receive mockery.
Kpop is popular because they give content the west can’t and won’t give.

Actually, I do stan a Steve, who wouldn't qualify to be in the American Kpop-style group:

the only "western" group i still listen to since 1989 is New Kids On The Block...occasionally Backstreet Boys.
if the music is good i don't care either way where they come from.
-
for me it all depends on the music.
-
If it's good music, then yes
-
Never say never but I have a hard time imagine that.
I didnt fell for the usual kpop artists in the first place. They needed a special story like brave girls to catch me.
Also the morals, the work ethics and discipline were even Korean idols have a hard time live up to them. I have a hard time imagine western artists can pull that of.
-
Yup, I will

I might be interested if a few conditions are met:
1) I deem them to be great, or at least acceptable, role models.
2) They have a passion in music and actually want to be a part of the industry (they aren't forced into it in any way, that would make me uncomfortable supporting them in all honesty).
3) They keep on making efforts to improve and do better instead of stagnating, no matter how good they currently are.
4) They have little to no scandals to speak of.
5) Both on and off the cameras, they maintain a good relationship with each other, or at least one where they tolerate each other and there is no behind the scenes bullying to speak of.
I think that covers almost everything. Have a great day/night!

Aww, thank you. They're not all interesting tho. Some are like this.... :D
Tbf, that did get to 7 pages lol

i dont think i can relate to a western artist enough to stan them
We are too different culturally imo
I could be a fan but not someone who roots for them i'd be neutral ig
Atleast thats what i feel after watching jb, ariana, taylor etc and some american shows etc lol
You feel your culture is similar to Korean culture? In what ways?

yeah.

I used to love groups like Backstreet Boys and TLC. I wouldn't mind seeing a resurgence of boy bands and girl groups in the US, and if they could do the cool choreo of kpop, even better. I would listen to both.
-

I mean, it has to be one of my fav group's otherwise I wouldn't stan. But then again, one of the factors for stanning is voices. Do I like their voices? So probably no. There is something about those voices just fitting right in those songs.

For giving the content itself and seeming like a product more than artists or for the behavior they would be expected to do in the content like cringe challenges? If it was just like video diaries and behind the scenes stuff, would that be okay?
-
Is there a specific reason?

Everything from the way they behave and act. Kpop stars are untouchable. They don’t share their actual opinions on anything. They don’t date. They act innocent and cute in their behind the scenes. These things SELL. People hypocritically WANT this stuff. But if it was a western artist they would be mocked, ridiculed and laughed at. Kpop acts and their personalities will never work with a wester audience if they were actually western.
Kpop sells only because it’s not the west. Look at the way Day6 Jae reacts to kpop. That would be an American’s stance. Even Americans who go to Korea deliberately change the way they behave to fit the kpop mould.

To think about it, I came across this video on Youtube

-
maybe? but i can't imagine a western girl group that's cute and makes bubblegum pop music. the only ones i can think of have been overly sexy or "i'm an independent woman" which is fine but that's why i never really liked western girl groups. if anything it always seemed kind of try hard and cringey to me???
i'm a cute woman that likes pink frilly cute things. i like a lot of different music, but sometimes i just want a playful love song where the people singing it make choreographed hand hearts, you know??
