Biggest boygroup song in 2021 that is not from bts?

  • it depends on what you mean by biggest?

    YT numbers?

    spotify?

album sales (uless we're taking on songs and not albums...)

    korean charting?

  • I want to know what song would be the biggest when we consider everything. But looks like for the bgs they do well or average in one or two metrics and non existent in the others

  • For Gaon it’s actually Don’t Call Me from SHINee.

    Is he.....you know?

    투모로우바이투게더 방탄
    레드벨벳엑소샤이니에이티즈

Give me top 5 on GAON for non BTS boy group songs.

    + has more YT likes

  • Anti-Romantic on there as a b side with no promo :woow: no MV or choreo :woow: Tik Tok really made that song take off.

  • I would personally say Anti-Romantic is bigger on spotify than Drunk-Dazed and Thunderous based on the fact that it is an unpromoted bside pulling title track numbers (yes i know fever is a bside but it was still promoted on music shows unlike anti-romantic).

So my Spotify Ranking would be

    1. Fever (108M)

    2. Lovesong (101M - fastest 4th gen song to pass 100M)

    3. Anti-romantic (85.4M)

    4. Loser = Lover (66M) - is currently gaining more daily than Thunderous despite being released earlier (and will likely catch up to DD on Spotify)

    5. Thunderous (will likely catch up to DD on spotify) (64M)

    6. Drunk-Dazed (Fever kinda pulled the attention away from it) (88M)

YT (harder to rank due to ads but if I look at both views and likes)

    1. Thunderous (146.8M & 4M likes) - most balanced

    2. Hot Sauce (146.6M & 3.6M likes)

    3. Don't Fight the Feeling (EXO) (94.8M & 4.5M likes)

    4. Lovesong - (56M & 3.1M likes)

    5. Fever/DD (60-61M & 3M likes)

    6. Hello Future (76M & 2M likes)

    7. Sticker (72M & 2M likes)

    EDIT: ADDED TO SPOTIFY RANKING

  • I think for yt we should look at the longevity after few months. If it's pulling decent views 2-3 months after the release i would say it has done good enough. Likes i guess can be to a certain extent considered as unique listeners.

    Hmmm

I decided to look at the one's i mentioned's gain from this video (it was a per week update)

    updated ranking using that:

    1. Thunderous - gained 3.6M - August release

    2. Hot Sauce - gained 709k - May release

    3. Fever/DD gained - Fever gained 896k - May release, DD gained 826k - April release

    4. Lovesong - gained 713k - May release

    5. Hello Future - gained 593k - June release

    6. Don't Fight the Feeling (EXO) (94.8M & 4.5M likes) - gained 443k - June release

    7. Sticker (72M & 2M likes) - gained 753k - September release

Looking at this: imo Hot Sauce/Fever/DD and Lovesong are all pretty close to each other on YT

Thunderous is easily the runaway leader

While Hello Future & DFTF are close

and sticker is well imo, showing the least since it is gaining as much as some of the others that were released in May despite being released in September

  • Thanks. I also found top 5 on YouTube & Spotify. Let's wait for confirmations before making any conclusions :-P

Is there some place you follow this info or do you just see it on news reports?

No I don't follow any particular website or something tbh. I just know how to use Search function well. Everything's there on the internet.

Both hybe bgs having besides doing really well on Spotify.

Post 2018 boygroups have alot of casual listeners.

This isn't my ranking. I was just asking which are the most streamed songs on those platforms.

Wow! I honestly didn't know 'Thunderous' was so behind top 4 on Spotify streams. I just put it up with the thought of Stray Kids doing very well on Spotify.

SKZ is doing well on spotify, i think sometimes people just underestimate how well TXT has done on spotify (especially this past year).

Both groups I would say are definitely the two BGs behind BTS (obviously with a large gap) on Spotify.

  • So let's see based on data over here :

    GAON top 5 :

    1) Shinee - Don’t Call Me (142M Points)

    2) Seventeen - Is It Still Beautiful (110M Points)

    3) NCT Dream - Hot Sauce (103M Points)

    4) Seventeen - Rock With You (83M Points)

    5) NCT 127 - Sticker (67M Points)

YouTube top 5 most streamed :

    1. Thunderous

    2. Hot Sauce

    3. DFTF

    4. Hello Future

    5. Sticker

YouTube top 5 most liked :

    1. DFTF

    2. Thunderous

    3. Hot Sauce

    4. Lovesong

    5. Drunk-Dazed and Fever

    Spotify top 5 :

    1. Fever

    2. Lovesong

    3. Drunk-Dazed

    4. Anti-romantic

    5. Loser=Lover

Conclusion : There is no standout song by boygroups here.

    My ranking :

    1. Hot Sauce

    2. Fever

    3. Lovesong

    4. Don't Call Me

    5. Thunderous

  • Dang, that’s all over the place due to the fact how different domestic and international rankings are.

Each criteria have different groups that are topping different areas.

  • Why are you still using Spotify and YouTube as a metric of success? Although companies pay for ADS they also pay for automatic lists on YouTube. I see conspiracy theories on my sister's account and yet on YouTube's automatic lists, Korean groups and Indian singers appear. Exactly the same thing happens about Spotify when you are not a premium version, there are several groups that cannot be filtered even having a playlist. Also fans manipulated album sales. It happens to all groups, so the group that can last the longest is the winner, we should appreciate the music of our favorites more.

  • I did a small collection of data from Gaon, Spotify and Youtube to determine the biggest one.

    Gaon

    1. Don't Call Me (142M)

    2. Hot Sauce (103M)

    3. Rock with You (83M)

    4. Sticker (67M)

    5. Hello Future (59M)

    6. Favorite (57M)

    7. Ready To Love (40M)

    8. Beautiful Beautiful (35M)

    9. Dive Into You (28M)

    10. After Midnight (27M)

    Spotify

    1. Fever (106M)

    2. Lovesong (99M)

    3. Drunk-Dazed (86M)

    4. Anti-Romantic (84M)

    5. Loser=Lover (65M)

    6. Thunderous (63M)

    7. Hot Sauce (58M)

    8. Magic (34M)

    9. Hello Future (33M)

    10. Fireworks (33M)

    Youtube

    1. Thunderous (146M)

    2. Hot Sauce (146M)

    3. Don't Fight The Feeling (95M)

    4. Hello Future (76M)

    5. Sticker (72M)

    6. Drunk-Dazed (62M)

    7. Fever (60M)

    8. Don't Call Me (59M)

    9. Lovesong (57M)

    10. Rock with You (52M)

I weighted this three differently: 50% Korean (Gaon) and 50% International (40% Spotify + 10% YouTube).

YouTube views are counted less since they are the most easily manipulated with Ads.

For Gaon if it isnt ranked i give 0 as score.

The system is the same as music show, the highest in each category get full points (500,400,100) then the other in percentage.

    The Final Total

    1. NCT Dream - Hot Sauce 684 (365 + 219 + 100)

    2. Shinee - Don't Call Me 657 (500 + 117 + 40)

    3. TTX - Lovesong 464 (51 + 374 + 39)

    4. ENHYPEN - Fever 441 (0 + 400 + 41)

    5. SEVENTEEN - Rock with You 419 (293 + 91 + 35)

    6. Stray Kids - Thunderous 390 (54 + 236 + 100)

    7. NCT Dream - Hello Future 389 (210 + 127 + 52)

    8. ENHYPEN - Drunk-Dazed 387 (20 + 325 + 42)

    9. NCT 127 - Sticker 362 (238 + 75 + 49)

    10. TXT - Loser=Lover 317 (41 + 244 + 32)

  • Oh wow, never realized it is very hard to find biggest boy groups songs of course other than Bts. People have different opinions as nobody really excel well in every metric. On the other hand, it is very obvious for the girl groups.

  • Your Spotify analysis doesn't seem to be accurate.

Fever didn't pull the attention from DD away mostly because both songs have different appeals. Fever is really the top (non-BTS) boygroup song on Spotify this year but D-D did extremely well and both tracks attracted a lot of new fans and made Enhypen become a Million seller in the first year of their career. Better than just saying I think we can look at the current status.

    LOSER=LOVER 66,956,031 (Daily streams: 363,311)

    Thunderous 64,602,179 (Daily streams: 313,845)

    Drunk-Dazed 88,102,301 (Daily streams: 266,772)

    Anti-Romantic 85,460, 236 (Daily streams: 262,944)

    0x1=Lovesong 101,243,442 (Daily streams: 255,937)

So no, Anti-Romantic, Loser=Lover, and Thunderous aren't bigger than DD on Spotify. Anti-Romantic had its peak when it frequently used to make more daily streams than Lovesong but now is normalized and even if Thunder/Loser maintain their current daily streams they would need 4/5 months to catch up DD numbers.
