This is the second time in a row that the controversy of the title track occurred. In view of the length of the space, I will explain this issue in four parts.
1. First of all, like “Alcohol free “, “Scientist“ is maybe not a good title track, but it is still a one of the good songs on the album. And “Formula of Love:O+T=>3” is also fabulous as the previous two full albums.
2. On my opinion, the controversy of the title track of the recent two Korean comebacks might be caused by the theme about “Love Series” of the album. Or they decided on these names from the beginning.
“What is love” was the greatest successful title song after “TT”. The content of the lyrics is that a girl asks what love is in an almost shouting way. It meets the effect of a general title track(especially a pop song), that is like to call people: “Hey guys, I'm here, please pay attention. I have something to say.” But it’s harder to meet that in “Alcohol Free“. Because TWICE presented the theme of the album in a slight drunk way. There is a conflict with the effect I said above. Now is “Formula of Love” turn. TWICE tried to tell the nerds that love can’t be analyzed by science. That’s a higher level of thought than the previous two albums. But explaining something involving academic in a pop song is also not easy.
3. You can say TWICE is impulsive, also can say they are lovely or brave. But they do have something to say. For example, “Icon” in this album or their Japanese song “Perfect World”.
TWICE rarely sing girl crush style of songs since their debut. Maybe they will have a TWICE crush style besides cute concept. I believe this is not a delusion.
4. Some ONCEs blamed JYP for the dispute. A comeback may include some chaos, hard works and compromise. I don't know how much responsibility he has to bear in this regard. But many people know that there are many rules and taboos in the entertainment industry, some of which cannot even be resisted by the management. So when I don’t understand the ins and outs of the matter, I will not comment for the time being.
Finally, what I want to say is that their unique lovely image has won a lot of commercial success, and at the same time have accumulated a certain bargaining chip for themselves. I sincerely hope that they continue to capture overseas markets while successfully changing their own image like in “Feel Special”.
PS: In order to complete this kind of article that I am not good at, how tired I am now can be measured by some instruments. But the determination and satisfaction behind this are what it means.
