Are YG vocalists underrated?

people are more focused on yg rappers but vocalists deserve more attention too

I would say so, when it comes to vocals everyone talks about SM.

Only yoon and treasure boys are very good vocalists the rest Depend on their vocal tone

Definitely. I sometimes see folks talk about Yedam, Rose, or Taeyang/Daesung but otherwise they're pretty underrated for the most part. I'd say it's because they're less "flashy" than other vocals but have more of a special tone that sets them apart

honestly none of the YG idols have impressive vocals. in SM there's Wendy, Taeyeon, Changmin, Jonghyun, D.O, Baekhyun, Chen, some of the Suju members can really sing too, but in YG... they are more focused on rap.

Not for me, I dont usually like their vocalists.

They're hyped for having this great voices, but they're not my type.

Compared to SM? Nah they're rated as they should be. SM groups each have at least 1 or 2 singers that could be considered among the very best in the biz and a couple more that could be main vocals in most other groups and non vocal members aren't often that bad. YG groups overall don't have the wealth of ability to match SM

No not really. There aren't enough legit vocalists in YG to go toe to toe with SM although they have a few that stand out.

There are some really good vocalists in YG but I think they are rated just fine. As a whole SM has more vocalists and YG has better rappers.

Yes that's cause they have amazing rappers + Rap in general is far more mainstream these days than pop

It's a case by case situation 'the vocalists of the popular groups have always been well acknowledged and hyped, in some cases overhyped even (Bom and Taeyang during the 2nd generation)

I guess the difference with SM is in YG the focus has historically been on the rap and hip hop side so the vocals rarely got highlighted. While in SM they have consistently pushed and promoted the vocalists and highlighted the company's focus on vocals until it became their trademark (and it's not for nothing)

YG dont care about vocals, if you got a good vocal tone they take you. This is what he is looking for and what best suits their music.

Not really an exaggeration, it's just how it is, let's compare last few ggs (I'm mainly a gg fan lol) from SM and YG

SM had main singer like Taeyeon, Luna and Wendy all 3 of whom can easily get the main role in any other gg and are considered some of the best singers in kpop. None of 2ne1 or BP are close to them in skill, they're completely outclassed

Then you got lead singers like half of SNSD (Tiff,Sun,Seo and previously Jess), Krystal and Seulgi. Bom and Minzy could be placed in this group (though Bom is extremely inconsistent and could be lower depending on the day) but most would consider most of SM, particularly SNSD, girls to be better than those 2.

Then there's a the average from SM (likes of Yuri, Sooyoung, Joy, Amber etc) and now more of YG girls like Rose, Jennie, Jisoo, CL are in this bracketand out up a good challenge with the SM grisl.

And the rest

Basically on average SM ggs undeniably has stronger singers than YG. For BG someone else can give their opinion but its it is likely the same situation where SM singers are stronger overall.

The only one that needs to be hyped more is Winner's Seungyoon. the rest are just okay

They are underrated. Upon, Teayang, Yedam, and Rosé needs more recognition.

There is a reason SM is synonymous with great vocals. I don't really stan YG's groups but aren't their vocalists are also praised for their unique and pretty vocals (at least in Rosé's case)?
