So HYBE falls and then what?

  • So let's say hypothecally HYBE actually falls. What you think is gonna happen?

I've been on the girls side (MHJ and NJ) since the beginning, I'm not at all doubting them, not even for second. My point here is: as much as I want NJ and MHJ to win, what will happen to the groups under HYBE? Well, I have some thoughts:

    1 - HYBE ownership over the sublabels gets dissolved and everyone is back to its own with their respective groups or;

    2 - HYBE remains as conglomerate and starts a reestructuring process that means letting go of problemetic staff, holds strong directions towards ethics, mutual respect and mental health with a very serious audit process as well. But here we are talking about a culture change and it takes time (I'm talking years) and executivies on board to make the big changes towards the making of a better company;

3 - HYBE's fall is nothing more than ADOR walking away with NJ ready to get back to the market and rock our worlds. Which also means that HYBE stays as a conglomerate minus ADOR and moves on with minimal change.

    What do you think?

  • I feel in the grand scheme of things, this is actually pretty small compared to what other large companies have had come out against them. Meaning I doubt HYBE is going anywhere. I'm sure they'll just swap out some higher ups, create some new internal processes claiming they will solve all their issues, and pat themselves on the back for making everything better.

I can't think of any label that has committed so many cardinal sins as HYBE in just the past 8 months. Are there more legitimately more serious crimes other labels have been found guilty of? Yes.

But this is K-Pop. Reputation and image is literally everything in this industry, and HYBE have been caught red-handed throwing dirt on every major label, and even small labels, as well as inciting and inviting hate on some of the biggest names and fandoms in the industry.

No company has ever pissed off so many big fandoms at the same time, even their own fandoms, and they also picked a fight against literally the most popular girl group of this generation, a group on pace to perhaps be the biggest girl group ever, which no company has ever done. There is no historical precedent for that.

So yeah, they're not escaping this without serious repercussions and harm, even if legally nothing happens to them.

That's the thing about reputation. It takes years to build it, but it can be ruined in a moment, if you're not careful. HYBE are never going to be what they were prior to April 2024 or what they could have been if they didn't try to take down MHJ and NJ.

  • BSH steps down and appoint a new CEO

Just like whaT happened to YHS for YG

Bsh is not the Ceo of Hybe or even at Bighit anymore, just like Yhs and Jyp, who left their positions long ago. He is now the biggest shareholder and the founder of the company. Technically, you can't really fire him or anything. Probably they can amend an agreement that not allowed him to be actively involved in Hybe management anymore.

  • since hybe is really big + contributes to the korean economy i feel like they would only be having to pay a sum of money but since the court is rlly siding with nj, i feel like they would have to let the sublabels go

  • there is already a group of people practically called hype stan, so for me, this means as long as they remain to stay in ındusrty whether it is a good reputation or bad, there is always going to be an audience for hype groups so that their reputation remains as big as sm and jyp. that kind of scandals pretty much happen frequently to the point people forget, but the audience stays. plus bts's fame and reputation is still alive so there is a very small chance that HYPE will ever end.

  • Yea I mostly agree and I'm not trying to downplay or compare what they did, but the pessimist in me tells me they'll ultimately survive this. What has me thinking this is actually a reply you left me a few days ago about Blizzard, because at that very moment I was playing Diablo 4 lol. Like their reputation has suffered horribly and they will forever be regarded as a shitty company, but D4 crossed 1B$ in sales recently.

All of this is unprecedented of course in kpop, and I have no idea what will happen. But it does seem that it typically ends up fine for the company, at least financially. So I think they'll be fine but yea I don't expect any of us to forget about what happened and it may ultimately effect them financially, which to me will actually do something.

The Blizzard comparison does work pretty well, doesn't it? Lol

But they didn't come out of that unscathed. A LOT of executives and directors were either fired or quit, and then Microsoft cleaned house even more. That's what HYBE needs if they don't collapse. A cleaning.

I see it as the only option to keep HYBE going. It's why I typically do not get very serious about hating companies, because it's not like HYBE is inherently evil, but clearly the people running it are. If they get rid of all the problems, maybe it can recover. Though I would not mind seeing them dissolve and free the sub-labels atp....

  • hybe should be dissolved and all criminals put in jail.

they can rename it and rebuilt it under another name, and another direction who will behave more like a proper parent company. ceo or not, we all knwo who rules over hybe.

ador should sent be free and not interefered with by new direction.

  • Hybe is going to fall as hard as Samsung fell when they were avoiding taxes.

  • The thing is, HYBE America doesn’t give a shit. They will thrive here. This kind of crap happens every day and no one gives a care, it’s sad that we have become like this. So even if they take a slight hit in Korea, here they will be huge. Especially with the return of BTS. All the members are huge in the US, even solo, so they will still make milllions.

Knowing the part HYBE played in the hate V/JK received, you're really happy with that?

  • Hybe is not going to fall...or at least, not fast, their groups are too successful for that. If they don't make internal changes and ignore the public sentiment... When BTS disbands (or similar) they will slowly fade, to a much smaller position, like YG.

What is important here is that, with all these, maybe NJ can be free of them and be able to continue the group without a mass boycott or penalty fees.

Knowing HYBE, I know they're itching for the 7 months to passed by so that their asses would be save. ;judgingpepe:

  • Knowing the part HYBE played in the hate V/JK received, you're really happy with that?

Absolutely not. I think they should have made their own label and moved on. I’m just saying companies like HYBE can get away with basically anything but murder here. It’s ridiculous and wrong.

  • Something like 2, maybe plus 3.

I don't think Hybe won't go anywhere. At least not while they have BTS as a whole group. If any of them leave then they are probably in trouble. I think the rep damage they have taken will also take a long time to recover from, if ever.

Maybe if the heat gets too much there will be some statement, someone/s up high will be scapegoated, and they'll say they've learnt their lessons and will make change etc.

Then if they are smart they will actually follow through, and it will eventually blow over to some extent, though some haters will continue to shit on everything they do.

This is also given the NJ/Ador saga ends in a way that the public/tokkis are relatively okay with. Like they just cut them loose and take the loss. The longer this drags out the more rep damage they are going to take. It would take some massive reveal to turn the GP and wider community at this point.

Ultimately though, it's all going to come down to the state of their finances and whether they can retain the money making groups like BTS and Seventeen and if their newer groups can be as successful. I don't think much will change unless BTS or some of their members leave tbh.

If they do leave however, I think their newer groups are at risk of not being successful enough to maintain Hybe given the ill will towards them and they may end up like DSP version 2 on a bit of a different scale.

When u want to say postive things about hybe but have to word it in such a way that you don't appear pro hybe :meme-wink:

  • There will be no "fall"

Stock prices will fall some, they will restructure, put new puppets as the faces. Maybe NJ/MHJ will get away. BTS 7 have enough clout to step away too.

It is the cases like Illit, TWS etc,. who will get hurt the most and the pipeline of trainees.

Otherwise the bosses will remain bosses behind the scenes,

It's literally seventeen under Pledis that feed Hybe America. Hybe America produce nothing except the "big name".
