By dec it will probably subside. Gangnam style craze lasted for about 3 months.
The only time a song released in the previous year winning a SotY was Lee Jieun's Good Day, released on Dec 2010.

Rosie album dropping dec should give it another push. So it will likely last more than 3 months (not to say it will stay at #1 but it wont drop like meteor)

Because of Mars? When this is even the first time for Bruno to top the Kcharts. Not setting aside Bruno's impact but APT did better than DWAS both domestically and internationally. This is not about Bruno nor Rosé anymore. The song is smashing because it is a good song. Both Rosé and Bruno are reaching new records because of this song. So this is not only Bruno's impact. Like give Rosé her flowers too for being the writer and spearheading this song.

The song is only a week old, and they don't consider it SOTY just because it's catchy. If we're talking about Korea, then it's SOTY, if we're talking about the world, then no, there were much cooler tracks released this year. The effectiveness of the company's promotion does not make a track SOTY, I don't even think it will be nominated for a Grammy

It is silly to deny that Bruno Mars' influence on the track is huge, by the way, without him the track would have been mediocre, since he produced the music, the lyrics in the track play a secondary role. But Rose + Bruno's vocals have excellent chemistry.

Rosé actually wrote the song before her team pitched it to Bruno. She almost deleted it because she found it ridiculous to have written a song about a korean drinking game but because her team found it nice, they pitched it to the right person who also by the way, saw the potential of the song.
I agree that Bruno's impact also helped but let's not deny that Rosé's power also helped. And the song reaching the records they have right now is not only about Bruno. It is the song itself. The song is just that good that all ages can enjoy despite being based on a Korean drinking game. Bruno and Rosé's impact are just a bonus.
If the song flopped, for sure, Rosé would be blamed. And if it is smashing, it is because of Bruno.
This is a duet. So both parties contributed. Rosé's fandom actually helped this time. They have been very hungry for years now. That's why they are all out now in supporting her. And Rosé always showed great numbers in the West. She was and is still the only one who got #1 in both BB200 and #70 in BBH100.

I love the song, but not even close to be in the conversation. Biggest song of the year, yes, but not a SOTY! Don't go that far.
For me at least: SOTY is a perfect song, and it's not only about numbers and charts.
It's pretty obvious which one is the SOTY in 2024, but I won't name it, because I don't want to argue with anyone.

its certainly had the highest peak domestically, I honestly never thought a song would pass 600k ULs again. But just because a song had the highest peak doesn't mean it will have the best longevity. Still Life has by far the highest peak of the 2020s (over 900k ULs!) but both Hype Boy and Love Dive ended up being "bigger" songs because they hung around forever (Hype Boy is still hanging around). Supernova was #1 on Melon for 15 weeks in a row, that's going to be hard to replicate.

Via this collab (and DWAS) he gained so much listeners outside his usual listener base.
Due to give the ladies i.e. Rosé and Gaga some credits. The collabs are smashing because of them not solely on Bruno.
