How has your opinion of HYBE changed since April?

  • How has your opinion of HYBE changed since April? 59

    1. My opinion of them has fallen (35) 59%
    2. My opinion of them hasn't changed at all (20) 34%
    3. My opinion of them has improved (4) 7%

I'm just collecting more AKP data.

For my part, I thought HYBE was playing chess to everyone's checkers and on pace to completely dominate the industry.

    Then April happened.

And now the once glorious empire has revealed itself to be a house of cards ready to tumble over due to their own hubris and greed.

  • I never thought highly of that company to begin with, but they're incredibly petty and unprofessional, sm is a petty company too but damn at least they manage to reduce collateral damage in a skilled way and focus on creating original quality content instead of damaging and stealing from their own groups and that's why hybe can make numbers but will never be respected like sm as a kpop company

narcissistic, my god i love it

  • My thoughts haven't changed about them. They're just another business that looks to maximize profits in the most efficient way possible, which is what everyone tries to do anyway.

  • Both their business ethics and music quality have declined significantly this year! I don’t even know what happened to them!

The evil side that we see is just the beginning, worse is coming I fear!

And Hybe should quit on gg business! They don’t know how to handle them, be it Lsfm, illit, katseye, Gfriend, NewJeans or Glam!

Still I don’t despise Hybe as much as I despise SM, but at least SM brings some quality to the table!

When your producer is in distress - quality was bound to drop. Only MHJ can unlock NJ's true potential and bring out their best. We need her as CEO to steer the ship; only then will the group thrive and achieve success

  • This should have been a hit

  • the same way I feel towards any other kpop label, indifference. Though for HYBE that indifference has shifted more towards strong dislike with the recent events. But ultimately a company is not a single person.

  • My opinion been the same, since the beginning, that they made the right call with the audit on MHJ after the tip off, and she is guilty to the bone. Now, all their side doing is throwing fits at Hybe, cry and lie and all Hybe do nowadays is put out fact sheets. Unless you are stupid, I'm positive most are, completely insane to believe that women lie over and over again. Honestly, I don't know how Hybe statements always gets twisted, especially by these foolish fans can't even read for their lives.

  • Idk, TMI here but I had HYBE on block for most of my kpop life because of how invasive their artists and their fan account pages were on my socials. I think I unblocked them around antifragile release? I don't really remember. I only followed some new Hybe groups because of this forum. So idk what to think of about them as a company in retrospect beyond that.

For my music interest i never really liked them except for few songs here and there and hated how they kept acquiring other agencies with some of the groups i liked only to disband/mistreat them but for their OG idols I always thought they were the best active agency. BTS, LSF, NJ, ILLIT were killing it, getting tons of publicity/support/budget/good comeback schedules etc. They were smashing records left, right and for most part all idols under them looked like they were happy and getting paid well too (Formis9 im sorry you deserved better). But then this whole circus began.

So, I would say my opinion has definitely fallen.

Now tthey just come off as a petty cash grab, seeing how much they media play/manipulate sales/leak videos& confidential info/make false claims/steal ideas and are willing to throw their own idols under the bus just so they can use their fan bases for fighting media wars.

For MHJ - my opinion hasnt really changed, she sucks just as much as current HYBE for me.

  • I do think their rapid rise and years of dominance got them bloated, arrogant, and negligent. I've also been really shocked at some of their incompetence at times.

Regardless of how things shake out with ADOR, hopefully this is a wakeup call for them.

  • Turned negative.

I think they are moving away from what made them successful. It is like those growth companies that replace everyone that got them there and replace them with cookie cutter execs. It is to maximize profit instead of innovation.

I think they will have an identity crisis not too long into the future. They are masquerading as if they are a fast growing tech/gaming company. They've convinced investors that they are, but once people come to realize that isn't the case, their easy access to money will be turned off.

Also, their acquisitions like dunamu and ithaca were terrible.

  • back onto the actual question

In terms of the three parties involved - MHJ, NJ, Hybe

Hybe - couldn't give a shit about any company but initially it seemed that hybe was more right and now more neutral

MHJ - initially my impression of her wasn't positive but now more neutral

NJ - positive initial impression as they stayed out of things but now more neutral

  • HYBE probably has one of the WORST PR team ever. This is when you know the company is overexpanding without having the proper human resources & experience in handling crisis.

We thought YG handling Burning sun, JYP handling Tzuyu flag scandal and SM handling the LSM ousting was bad. HYBE vs MHJ is on totally different level.

Before anyone attacks me, im not standing with MHJ nor Hybe but all these could have been handled more privately. HYBE started withe the mediaplay on removal of MHJ + audit stuff - why all these need to go public first without conclusion? MHJ went public with presscon, that's where all the dirty laundry are flashed out.

Also, recently how HYBE has been refuting each and every single claim of MHJ side is also very alarming. They are going nowhere with the "he says she says". Also, the subsi Belif and Soumu's responses are also very uncoordinated. This is not how a big listed co works. They act like a bunch of kids arguing in school.

  • I think they've the worst Leadership/PR skills among big 4, most of their ceos and staff are dumb asf. But I do like their GGs and I think hybe ggs have the creative team in big4.

  • It was always the same. They’re a company that’s very adapt at manipulating the news and the fans. This has been true since before they were even hybe.

Not that they’re special in this regard or anything. But all companies are the same and I guess some people have to come into terms with that.

  • Trash company

The way they handle the MHJ mess was embarrassing

Them trying to punish Newjeans by cancelling their showcase and album is disgusting

Them being more busy writing articles looking down on other artist than caring about handling the mess in their company is pathetic

I think this year have been clear that HYBE is a company who's way too much greedy

They tried to expand so fast without having the real knowledge and skills to make it last

And now their golden castle is crumbling and koreans are starting to see the horrendous side of this that's why the image of the company decline so quickly in a few months

  • me, thebadguy, tati and dreamer have remained consistent and unfazed since day 1, god knows how much shit we took from armys & hybe stans especially in the first couple megathreads. As they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger 😈

Actually prior Illit's debut, I had a rather positive opinion of hybe and made my hybe girls playlists and such :eyes: .

I was even interested in Illit's debut. But then whek they did... I saw through Bangs soul and intentions right away! And was pretty vocal about it here in allkpop. as I also linked it to NJs endless hiatus which drove me half insane btw!

  • For my part, I thought HYBE was playing chess to everyone's checkers and on pace to completely dominate the industry.

I have to disagree. Why? Because they didn't do anything extraordinary that the BIG3 never did before. This is Kpop, a cycle, basically. HYBE was on top, thanks to BTS for years, before them, it was SME, YG and JYP, and now it's gonna change again. Especially after BTS disband.

People only talking about HBYE, because of BTS, and now because of their lame Kdrama. But let's face it, without these things, no one would give a damn about HYBE.

  • I did not have much of an opinion about HYBE before. But now think that they got too cash rich too fast thanks to BTS blowing up and really don't know how to manage multi-label corporation which is a global player.

Whatever be the internal politics, at the end of the day HYBE management messed up with MHJ & ADOR.

They did not know whether they wanted to be like LSM's SM having micro-control over every aspect of the company, sub-labels, or like Kakao M, which does not interfere with sub-labels or YG-Teddy Model with MHJ.

Recruiting MHJ was a industry coup, but overall they seem to have messed up.

I see conflicting philosophies, HYBE wants to churn out idol groups from an assembly line, they don't care if multiple GGs, BGs are in play at the same time, it is just product line SKUs for them.

While MHJ is the old school type who wants distinctiveness and longevity of brand for the group.

HYBE is not nimble enough to accommodate both philosophies and that with personalities has ended in this nasty conflict.

Whatever the eventual result, in terms of public sentiment, shareholder sentiment- HYBE is the loser.

  • Might be shocking considering my antics in the Megathreads but...

"My opinion of them has fallen"

I never had an opinion either way of Hybe pre-drama, just another company but holy hell, are they a bunch of inept, aggressive, abusive, manipulative and dysfunctional uber-f*ckwits they are.

It's bad being aggressive, manipulative and abusive.

It's bad being inept, incompetent and stupid.

Hybe seems to be playing at both.
