Either Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund winning the Champions League this Saturday would make me happy as a supporter of both teams, but I would be slightly happier if it was the latter winning since RM already has a whopping 14 titles there (Dortmund's only CL win was in the 90s already). Sure 15 Champions League would be an incredible feat but man, Dortmund is the typical underdog you find yourself rooting for in this situation.

Only those gens to not complicate things with blackpink and twice, the first will take the top spot for sure and twice a spot on top 5. I'm pretty sure illit and baemon will kick 2 of those 4th gen girl groups in the next 12 months, so what's yours?

Top 3 is still some combo of Ive/Idle/New Jeans, but the order is in flux tbh.

Ive has clearly lost its #1 spot in Korea. Their ULs was extremely disappointing this time, i cant defend it since we're in peak UL season, not the doldrums of winter when Baddie came out.

Idle could stake a claim at #1 tbh, Fate was a huge hit and may be in contention for SOTY depending on longevity.

LSRFM was #4 ahead of Aespa after Perfect Night beat Drama, but the recent lackluster performance of Easy and the bonkers virality of Supernova has pushed Aespa back up to #4 and LSRFM down to #5.

New Jeans is teetering a bit, with Ive down, you would think they'd be a shoe in for #1 but the ULs havent been impressive so far for Sweet or Bubblegum. I think Gods COULD have been a warning shot tbh, everyone shrugged it off but the fact that Perfect Night was able to easily outperform it, i think in retrospect it COULD have been the canary in the coal mine that warned us that New Jeans reign of terror might soon be coming to an end.

I know Tokkis will insist that PN outperforming Gods is just due to "promotions" but folks dont realize that if Gods had taken off it woulda been promoted more for sure especially since it was their first English single if im not mistaken. And Gods was featured in a game that is 10000x more popular than Overwatch 2 lol especially in Korea, isnt LOL like Korean Super Mario Brothers there? Ador would have milked it like crazy if it spent 6 weeks on top of Melon like PN did.

I personally think LSRFM defeating NJ for the first time in history really set MHJ off knowing how much she hates Source.

Whatever the case, charting is interesting to follow because every data point needs to be analyzed. You never know what is meaningful and what isnt.

gidle- longevity 6 years now still relevant and kill still challenged kr top numbers, good numbers so far in touring, good sales in china,

aespa- still in their 3rd year. would be number 1 in a few years. big fandom. good tours sold out tokyo domes

ive - can still challenge for kr, good sales, better touring numbers

nj- has most resources compared to other groups, still hasnt done a tour yet ( tokyo dome in the works but the other two are also doing it). if they can sell out future tours and do better numbers above then they would be #2.

LSRFM has been blocked too many times by the top 4 groups for me to put them in the top 4 (AF blocked by Nude then Ditto, Unforgiven blocked by Spicy and kwinka, Easy blocked by Fate i believe). They've only had one win, defeating Baddie and Drama with Perfect Night, and this was their only #1 song on Melon Weekly.

Ive, Aespa, NJ, and Idle all have had at least three #1 songs on Melon, LSRFM only has one.

But my wildest prediction for 2024 is that LSRFM will comeback really strong in the fall, too many dullards are taking Qoo posts and likes as the opinions of the GP. I think they could end up with the best performing song of 2024.

My basis: they got Izone Chaekkura. Izone literally dont know how to fail. Izone, Chaekkura and Lesserafim been beaten and dragged for 6 going on 7 years by every jealous 4th gen fandom under the sun, and everytime they get smashed, they rise up even stronger than before. This is why I wont count out Ive either, WY and YJ are just too powerful to be put away THAT easily.

Let's wait for MHJ result today because depending on the favourable outcome for ifans, NJ will gain all the lost support back and dominate over again.

4th gen also a weird gen when it comes to top groups, there is no stability like BP and Twice of their gen.

I can see their streams get a boost gradually in the coming weeks, as long as they under Hybe, and MHJ fired, NJ will continue to go on and thrive further. The problem is all the upcoming lawsuit and sh*t, which probably will run for 2 to 3 years between Hybe and MHJ.
