Globally. Aespa is bigger than IVE?

  • Icaro's is the right answer

But the recency bias in this forum just because the last IVE's era underperformed internationally is crazy. They aren't the locals people want them to be. This year alone they had a song with over 200M streams and almost 200M on Youtube that made into the Year-End Billboard Global 200 (Excl. US).

They are also touring in arenas in multiple continents.

  • Yes. Even BM is beating Ive globally.

For some reason global kpop fans have abandoned Ive recently.

    Ive Baddie: 459,754

    Aespa Drama: 1,164,263

  • imo It is because their teen [chaebol] crush is comical to global kpop fans. The impact isn't realized until the next release.

kpop fans collectively and en-masse realized they aren't trendy or cool anymore, and they lost the success stans who only follow whoever is the #1 group.

The end result is a massive drop off, that even "flop" BM is demolishing them globally right now.

Added - Mostly everyone wrote Aespa off 12 month ago. Its totally changed in 12 months, especially this comeback. Momentum is important and Aespa is definitely in an upswing globally, while Ive is trending down. Why? Aespa being an all star visual group helps them a lot.

Edited once, last by K-PL ().

  • With Drama currently, it's bigger song compared to Baddie performance. IVE has I AM, Love Dive, After Like doing much bigger catalog numbers than aespa songs like Spicy, Next Level, Girls, Savage. IVE is still bigger.

aespa only beats them in BB200, and while with touring, IVE can match the numbers easily with upcoming tour.

    :pepepizza:

  • catzi what do you think of these receipts

  • and did I ever deny anything? I already said the same thing in the first page: aespa is doing better with drama, but Ive still have bigger peaks. Thats why I dont think IVE's #1 anti on this forum add anything new to the convo

And Sistar had greater digital peaks than SNSD; that didn't make them the more popular group overall.

Peak is just one factor among many that contribute to legacy.

I don't even think aespa is necessarily on IVE's level, but your arguments have been awful today :pepe-shame:

  • Kpop is really like football. When you score one girl you’re the GOAT but one flop match and no one cares about achievements.

Aespa surpassed the expectations with drama and its holding well but I’m laughing at the comments people were laughing about aespa being local and now they’re bigger than IVE which has 1B streams btw and will most likely surpass them on overall streams. SS messed up with era and they need to go back to their old path. We want elegant girls not some baddies give that to BP.

  • I don't know but currently aespa seems to grow a lot internationally

i know they don't have a song who reach 300M stream etc...

but it seems that a lot of people underestimate them for this

but people seems to care a lot more about aespa overall discography than they do with other gg besides Newjeans

because they are the 2ND GG with the most songss surpassing 100K streams

their daily streams currently is only behind Newwjeans and Lesserafim

and their monthly listeners is only behind NJ, LSRF and Gidle with a big chance to surpass Gidle in the next weeks

and were also the 2nd fastest 4th gen GG to reach 1B stream on spotify in april 2022

  • I might trash Ive more than others, but in discussion it is pointless to be disingenuous just to win it.

Aespa is #1 in China, and they did 2 Tokyo Domes back to back in Japan.

I would put Aespa just behind Ive for the last 12 months, but if it is for the last 6 months, because of their recent success with Drama I would say Aespa are ahead globally now.

If we look long term, Aespa has 4 aces to help promote them globally, and Ive 2 aces. However good the 2 aces are, and I'd rate Yujin with the most potential out of all members in Ive and Aespa, 4 aces will outperform 2 aces long term.

  • I think both Aespa and IVE as a brand are equally popular globally. It's just that in 2022, IVE had multiple hit songs, and hence they had more streams.

The same applies to G-idle and Lesserafim. All these 4 groups are equally popular among kpop stans. It's only a matter of which song clicks with the global kpop fans.

IVE is more popular than Aespa in Korea though.

  • I think it depends how you look at it. I don't know if Aespa or IVE get's more streams overall (counters streams on Spotify, Youtube etc). Good indicator will be a touring power in the future. There are a lot of factors that should be compared.

So currently my opinion will be based ONLY on Spotify chart streams (keep in mind, that Spotify chart streams don't count ALL the streams, but shows where the artist had song popular enough/strong enough fandom to appear on the country daily chart).

I would say that the most popular globally is LE SSERAFIM > IVE > aespa

But most popular overall is IVE - with them being the most popular in Asia IVE > LE SSERAFIM > aespa

  • Mmm. Is this right? How Aespa have nothing in Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, etc etc.

  • Mmm. Is this right? How Aespa have nothing in Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, etc etc.

It's not that they don't have streams from those countries at all - but their streams were never strong enough to chart on the regional Daily Chart Top 200 in those countries.

(the data is valid until 20.12.2023 for the regional charts, is missing the last week)

  • I can recall similar arguments by people against Aespa for the girls-era, and they (the aespa fans) would say far and wide is 'but they have a legacy of hits' and not to only take their last comeback into account.

Just seems funny the narrative is now on the other foot. I don't really care for either group or who wins the argument, but i love the taste of irony in there air.
