It's 1000x more organic than having labels setting up huge promotional campaigns, appearing on popular shows and radio programs, utilizing commercial tie in campaigns with household brands that everyone knows.

The companies do setup huge promotional campaigns on tik tok tho. They pay content creators, dancers etc to use their song to make dance challenges etc. They often release just a hook and scrap the whole song if it doesn't go viral.

Artist are not allowed to release songs if the virality on tik tok is not high enough for the company goals (and I don't say a small artist, Halsey was talking about it).

So no, Tik Tok is not free from influence from big labels

I agree about Tiktok. I dont use that program but to me, a song that gets popular there first is the peak of virality in this day and age. Kpoppies shading songs popularized by Tiktok as "inorganic" never made no sense. It's the most organic you can get, just regular fans loving a song and using it to make videos, which then spreads and catches fire throughout the entire worldwide app in a truly organic peer to peer way.

I think Drivers License went viral the same way, it was ginormous on Tiktok and broke records there iirc. Then it crossed over into the mainstream with Olivia's label seizing the moment to truly promote it. The biggest song in recent memory, and one of the best songs of the entire century.

The song was viral on Tik Tok (especially the speed up version). But it was one of the songs that even tho were popular on tik tok were not rising on streaming platforms at all. They started to raise on Spotify when they started using Discovery (and they still use it - and not only for one version). They also got heavy playlisting. There was a moment that the Discovery was turned down and they streams immediately started to fall down as well so they turned it again.

And when you look at streams from their other songs, this "virality" doesn't bring them fans interested in their other music. Since majority of their streams are passive ones.

It's just strategy so I don't think that anyone should hate them, it's not something illegal and a lot of other people are doing it as well.

    "out of nowhere"

SM really has set up Kai with that statement.

Apparently one can postpone it for 5 times within 2 years after receiving the first call. Kai received it and already used all of the 5 postponements.

SO it's such bullshit from SM to say that it's a sudden change. THEY KNEW it's very possible for him to get another call soon and that they can't postpone any longer.

This is not misinformation though? I know they are talking about live translations because the 'speak English' comments happening in real-time.

''Speak english'' is comment made by fans (or rather "fans") and live moderation but the ''subs behind a paywall'' is a lie.

Normal subs will still be available the same way it was till now, and the paid subs will probably will just be some shitty live AI translation online (since I doubt they will have someone to translate it). A lot of people on Twitter is acting like the subs will not be available at all.

And I personaly feel that if one is protesting for a matter that is important and valid (like Dynamic pricing), attaching misinformation or sometimes straight up lies, doesn't do anything good - because it's easier to dismiss the whole matter. It takes the attention away from the heart of the matter.

I understand outrage for the Dynamic pricing and I hope fans will be heard (as well about the shipping proce in weverse...)

But I hate how people use this to spread misinformation (for example about the subtitles) just to create even bigger negative mood instead of celebrating Yoongi's concerts.

I'm not even including the BE/Butter/Proof stupidness or the $300 scam version. When will the company stans realize that "music for healing" is now complete and utter bullshit? The Weverse membership is NOTHING like the Vlive + membership. That one was an OPTION, you didn't need to have it because subs were already there for the people who either didn't want the membership or couldn't afford it, but at least they can still watch and understand their favs for free. Then you have Dynamic pricing, something that since its conception BTS took no part in but now HYBE has started doing with Suga's concert. At what point will be enough for people to realize the BigHit we liked is GONE?

Dynamic pricing is a scam. I don't understand why it's still allowed in USA - it's already banned in Europe.

I hope they will get a lot of negative feedback because of it and will change they plan on it.

But when it comes to subs - they are not going anywhere.

The membership one's are real-time subs while the live is on, ''normal'' subs will still be uploaded and available after for all members (not only paid). So it's still very much an option if you want to pay or you will wait few days.

I don't get the outrage for the 300$ version of Proof. Sure, it's for money - and what of it? No one is forcing anyone to buy it. The same way no one is forcing anyone to buy the merch. It's was collector edition, released later and normal album was available. If people want to buy it, let them... a lot of artist has collectors edition as well. I would never pay for it but there are consumers for it, so why not.

The fixation on AI creeps me out, I don't like it at all.

Give me a link where he ever said he want to stay with BTS for decades.

I always give you screenshots to back up what I'm saying. Unlike you.

Did Jungkook even once mentioned 2025 comeback? Enlistment? New contract?

Is this comback is as real as his solo mv and intro you have been promising since 2019?

BTS will never again be as popular as in 2021. That was their peak.

He literally made a few hours long live after Festa were he asked ARMY to trust that BTS will be back together as soon as possible.

    JK's own words:

“Now, as this is the start of our healthy footsteps so that we can remain as Bangtan [BTS] for a long time, I trust that ARMYs will really like this side of us as well.”

    “BTS is forever

It might be like the case of BTS Butter that sounded exactly like that Nintendo game but the original composer was gracious enough and said that it’s merely coincidence. Maybe in this case too it was coincidence.

But often times in things like this it’s all about settling. No one will really know anything. But yeah this company may not have the funds like other big companies so let’s see how this goes.

OFC salty SM fans would bring BTS to discussion with groundless rumors. Creator of this melody was and still is credited in Butter since the song was released

It will probably end the same way it did when NCT plagiarizing TXT, they will add the producers silently after a while. You know, since it's a case of real plagiarism.

Or you know, another case of real plagiarism when SM had to add Louis Tomlison as songwriter of EXO's ''Love Shot"

Shoong received little to no promotion and is a mere bside, what were you expecting? Besides, Lisa isn't really popular in Korea. Her solos didn't chart well either.

Well the previous Lisa collab also tanked even tho it was promoted and had big names attached to it.

And with how BP fans also complains about BP not getting music, one would think that they would support any new stuff that's coming. Seems that they are not that hungry for new music after all

It's not about me. This discussion isn't petsonal. But yes, a lot of stans intentionally stream to support their faves. It isn't normal listening behavior though and that is a reason that charts don't count it. The fact that it's become normalized in kpop doesn't make it typical listener behavior.

And yeah, I know it's not about just looping. People strategically make whole playlists to maximize their stream counts. It's a whole thing. I know.

And who defines what ''normal'' is?

There are people that like to have 1000+ songs in their playlist. There are people that like to have small playlist.

Long before I become a ''stan'', when I didn't care about the artist revenue I was still looping songs, a lot more than 20 songs per day. It's just my way of listening - if I find a song I like I can have it on on repeat for like a month and I don't get bored of it. I have small playlist with songs that stay there for years.

Why my way of listening should be discriminated? I am a valid customer and my streams are valid too.

The lack of comprehension some people have is staggering. Like, you don’t even need to try hard to see that he is criticising himself along with everyone else.

What, will you guys only be happy if he donates all his money and goes off to live in a hermit cave somewhere?

They will still not be happy, "cuz not everyone has the luxury to find a nice, dry, hermit cave'...
