Love my queens but that performance was giving lack luster... I dunno. The singing was good but the dancing and stage presence....errrmmm. They do not suit girl crush/dark concepts. I've been saying since day 1 that Gods should have gone to aespa instead of new jeans. NO hate to New Jeans I am the only tokki on this forum. I am their #1 fan but I do not like bad performances.

Vocal minority does not a consensus opinion make.
I was up all night on the Twitch stream, YouTube stream and watched all the official uploads/fancams and read the reactions from the social media posts by both Riot and NewJeans.
The reception has been overwhelmingly positive, and most of the criticism was levied at the stage direction more than NewJeans' actual performance.
I am not trying to invalidate the critiques people may have, because we all have the right to feel how we want to feel about a performance, but I am rejecting this "people were lukewarm about their performance" narrative, because that simply isn't true.
Look forward to their BBMAs performances tonight

I guess you have never watched a LoL World opening ceremony. It's one of the worst they have done, it's not only Newjeans it's the whole ceremony that sucked so hard. They have done much better in the past.
That was the World Opening 10 YEARS AGO also in South Korea :

I guess you have never watched a LoL World opening ceremony. It's one of the worst they have done, it's not only Newjeans it's the whole ceremony that sucked so hard. They have done much better in the past.

it wasn't bad just boring and unexciting
and that's what surprise me because riot game put the budget on the performance with the fire stage effet, the Lol character hologram, the guy on stage with the props, all the dancer
so it's actually surprising that watching this performance i find it so unexciting to watch

I will say I wish Riot incorporated more stage effects and more overall creativity into NJ's performance. I know the ceremony is about League not the featured artists, but it feels like a missed opportunity, when NJ was already dressed like League champions and can pull off any choreo

It's not really about stage presence but because aespa is used to making epic songs while nj isn't. We all know aespa would have rocked tons of high notes in gods if they performed it, meanwhile nj sang in a very plain way which made the song kind of boring and if the song is boring, the performance will be by default. Doesnt matter since i doubt they will invite another gg any soon, at least nj got exposure ig

Riot said their list was one group long and NewJeans was the only name.
T1's Keria got the NewJeans buff and made it his goal to go to Worlds, meet them and win.
GodJeans is what the people wanted and that's what they got.
