i doubt it, ahyeon is one of the popular members along with chiquita and people see her as the next 'jennie' (in a good way).
i dont think not being seen for 2 months is that big of a deal tbh
a ton of babymonster stans and a few kpoppies thats on twitter, really are pushing the whole *new* "Jennie" thing on this girl.
like i saw somebody say that she gonna be the newer and younger "YG princess" and she gonna be the first to have a solo release and get brand deals, like Jennie did.
my opinion on that is...i wouldnt put it past YG.
i could see them playing up the whole BlackPink route on BabyMonster.
YG already put ads on every video on BabyMonster youtube channel, which is why they got all them views.
but of course YG going make it seem like they just automatically popular and easily getting 15 million views on regular content videos of little girls hanging out in their dorm and eating samgyeopsal

I think it is for the same reason the Japanese, Chinese, and Americans are the biggest buyers of kpop albums.
Trueeee.
And most kpop listeners in Korea nowadays are casual listeners.
And won't really go out their way to buy a ticket or merch, depending on the group obviously.

The Dream concert can get away with having one or two semi big artists to sell out Seoul Olympic Stadium.
Korean award shows just know they can put up extortionate prices for overseas fans as domestic fans see idols frequently

None of STRAY KIDS songs wouldve been epic at the VMAS💀
Same for TXT, them performing "Sugar Rush Ride" wouldn't have been it for me either, for a American award show for the first time and in front of American celebrities, even though it's a good song for kpop standards.
What they did with "Back For More" was amazing musically and it was very Michael Jackson themed, which I guess they was going for.
Either way it sounded good and did them justice in a Live performance, especially for a debut.
"S - Class" just wasn't it man.
Too noisy, too many people on stage, none of the outfits stood out.
Yeah they did some cool tricks and flips..but it gave inkigayo, and wasn't nothing super special.
